Following rumors that Bill Murray had joined the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the legendary Ghostbusters actor confirmed that he had indeed signed on for an undisclosed role in the Marvel Studios threequel during a recent interview. There was some speculation that Murray may have been cast as Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) father, but it sounds like he'll actually be playing an obscure character from the comic books.
The Illuminerdi has heard that Murray will appear as Krylar, a member of the K’aitian race from the Microverse planet K’ai.
Krylar only appeared in a single Marvel Comic back in the '60s (issue #156 of The Incredible Hulk), and while he has no direct ties to Ant-Man, he could easily be repurposed as a denizen of the Quantum Realm. We don't have much more to go on, but there's a good chance this will be a smaller part for the veteran Scrooged star, possibly even a comedic cameo.
Peyton Reed will step back behind the camera for Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) next adventure, which will feature the return of Jonathan Majors as the villainous Kang the Conqueror and the debut of Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang. A recent rumor pointed to Corey Stoll's Darren Cross returning as M.O.D.O.K.
Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are set to return as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. "Wombats" Luis (Michael Peña) and Kurt (David Dastmalchian) will also be back as Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) sidekicks, but T.I. (Dave) is believed to have been dropped from the movie amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against him and his wife.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.
