Coming off the news that James Wan's Aquaman movie will release in China 2 weeks earlier than The US, Total Film's newsstand cover for the month of November has found its way online, giving us new looks at Mera (Amber Heard) and soon-to-be The King of Atlantis himself (Jason Momoa).

In addition, we have some new promo images courtesy of the 2019 calendar (via The Aquaman Shrine). We have seen most of the movie stills before, but there's also some cool new artwork featuring Black Manta.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.

Aquaman swims into theaters on December 21.

I'd be down with a calendar of just Mera's artwork.

Cautiously optimistic about this thanks to James Wan and the great art direction, but I'm a little nervous still due to the usual DCEU track record and Momoa and Heard being put together for so much of the film. They are both charismatic actors at times, but neither really strong and if their chemistry doesn't click it could kill it.

"It feels like Avatar, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars.... But also it's own new world." -Jason Momoa

@Kevwebsz - I probably will watch it for the people in the movie just not a big fan of Momoa or Heard. But find his comment confusing use of other movies to promote his movie.

I feel like everything about this movie shazam and wonder woman feels promising for a brighter future for DC.

But can someone please explain to me why WB are going back and forth with recasting Affleck and Cavill? Anyone read that? They're saying that they're basically moving forward without them?

@TheRationalNerd - Affleck hasn't been confirmed if he is out or not but Rumor has it Reeves is looking for a new Batman.

A report came out that Cavill will no longer appear as Superman and despite this Cavill and the studio wouldn't outright deny it...so that one is probably true.

I don't know how people have reservations for this film, there hasn't been anything that would lead me to believe that it wont be at the very least good.

Even if it isn't a "game changer" that's fine. DC just needs another WW type film that people have fun with and want to watch again and again.

I don't think Momoa and Heard have chemistry, acting aside. They remind me of Cavill and Adams, which is odd because like others the only reason I feel those two don't have chemistry is because of their age difference.

Mera's hair looks really good on these covers. I think it's almost TOO vibrant on film, kind of like Leto's Joker hair.

On Another note. Amber could totally play "Ariel" in a live action "The Little Mermaid".
