We may still be well over a month away from James Wan's Aquaman, but with post-production work officially complete, expect to start seeing a lot more from the upcoming underwater DC superhero adventure over the coming weeks as Warner Bros. kickstarts what's sure to be a massive marketing campaign for one of their biggest - and most ambitious - films of the year.
Earlier this morning, the studio released seven absolutely stunning new character posters for the film, spotlighting each member of the principal cast, which includes Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry), Amber Heard (Princess Mera), Nicole Kidman (Queen Atlanna), Patrick Wilson (King Orm), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Willem Dafoe (Vulko), and Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus).

Jason Momoa (
Game of Thrones) plays the title character, who we met last year in Zack Snyder's
Justice League, and while his introduction didn't exactly go according to plan, he'll soon get a chance at redemption with his own solo outing, which is due out in theaters December 21.
Following a brief cameo in Zack Snyder's
Justice League, Amber Heard (
London Fields) reprises her role as Princess Mera, who will have a critical role to play here as she attempts to convince Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) to reclaim his natural birthright.
With an Academy Award, four Golden Globes, a Primetime Emmy, and a BAFTA, Nicole Kidman (
Big Little Lies) is easily the most decorated member of the cast and while her role is expected to be brief, expect her to make a lasting impression as the mother of the future King of Atlantis.
After dabbling in the comic book movie genre with
Watchmen, Patrick Wilson (
The Conjuring) returns to the world of superhero movies with
Aquaman, but instead of playing a hero, he'll be playing one of the villains this time. However, while the trailers haven't outright painted him as such, don't be surprised when he betrays his half-brother Arthur (Jason Momoa) at the worst possible moment.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (
The Greatest Showman) suits up as Black Manta, who looks f***ing phenomenal. While his motives have remained under wraps, the trailers have already proved that he'll be a more than formidable foe for our heroes. Plus, as far as comic book-accurate costumes go, it's really going to be hard to top this one.
Willem Dafoe (
Spider-Man), our former Green Goblin, has turned to the light and will be providing much-needed guidance to Arthur (Jason Momoa) as he attempts to traverse the fine line between protecting the surface world and defending Atlantis.
The character posters dub both Orm (Patrick Wilson) and Nereus as Kings, so don't be shocked if something bad happens to Dolph Lundgren's (
Creed II) character early on that lets Orm ascend to the throne prematurely.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.
