Antman/Wasp Avenger Movie

Is it fair that these 2 weren't in the Avengers?

It wasn't to long ago that I felt that Antman and Wasp were very boring characters. But it wasn't until I read some Ultimate comics and saw Avengers EMH that my opinion shifted. So should Antman and Wasp be in the Avengers movie? My opinion is no.

First they need there own movie. I found it really interesting when I saw Hank physically abuse Jane. I feel if they were to give him maybe bi-polar disorder it would make sense. I think, but I cannot be fully certain. But if it plays out that way it would give the movie added emotional depth. And it would be cool to see the hero of the movie act at sometimes as the villain,in a sense. This would also add to Jane's character in that she can fight supervillains but can't stand up to her husband. Eventually leading her to grow a backbone as it were.

Second,it would be a good way to explore the scientific nature of vibranium. We got a sense of what it can do in Captain America TFA. But if Antman Wasp had a movie it could also show how dangerous it could be in the wrong hands, and also the good for mankind it could do. Leaving the way open for us to find its origin in a Black Panther movie.

Third, this is not an adaptation of the first Avengers comic. It would make sense to me if Jane and Hank we asked to join the Avengers by either Captain America of Iron Man. I don't see Hank agreeing to join the Avengers if it was a SHIELD operation. Which is what team is for this movie, not a premier superhero team. They are not independent agents as it were. I think marital abuse is something that could be interesting to explore in this potential film. Also making Jane by the end a very strong female role model for women today. Which will add more women to the movie seats...hopefully.

That's my thought process on this whole thing. Sound off in the usual place. Was it wrong for Marvel to bypass these two in favor for Black Widow and Hawkeye?

Yes.. Without a proper setup, it would be COMPLETELY unfair (to us and both characters) to have them in this film.. as much as we'd all love to see them, I'd really just hate to see them just thrown in there to please fanboys(girls). In time good sir.. In time.

It would be very satisfying to see them on screen, but I'd be a little skeptical if they did the "physical abuse" thing. Granted it would make Janet a strong female character when she stands up for herself (as you said), but I'm worried that it'd make Hank unlikeable. If they portrayed Ant-Man and Wasp as they did in EMH, I think everyone would be pleased and it would, overall, call for less risks for Marvel Studios.

the fact that they are two very lame characters probably also played a part in Marvel's decision making. well, that and Edgar Wright taking 10 years to simply write the script for the solo film.

I think there was way to much already going on in th avengers that they wouldn't have proper character development for them, and your right that wouldn't be fair.

Make the movie, don't call it Ant-Man!! who besides fans would go see a movie called "Ant-Man", I don't think it's hard to find a proper name to convince casual movie-goers to actually see it, like Hank Pym The Avenger, or something else

Instead of a full fledged movie, give em a movie short like Pixar likes to do with their movies.

I hate the Ultimate incarnations of Hank and Jan. Go with the classic 616 versions, where they're still a happy couple, but have some problems.

Marital abuse is waaay down the line for them if they are going with that at all. Their origins are not about that. They are about a man who's wife recently died on their honeymoon who meets a collegue's daughter-shockinly very reminiscent in looks of his deceased wife. Janet becomes wasp after her father is killed and she enlist's Hank's help in "avenging" that death. It's all about them becoming closer due to their mutual attraction and more importantly- because of the losses in their lives.

Not including Hank's first wife, and her death ON THEIR HONEYMOON, I believe does a disservice to his character. It has to be where he's coming from, the emotional drive that pushes him to compensate for the loss by emerssing himself in his fringe science and then using to play hero-to save people the way he couldn't save his own wife.

Ant man deserves his own movie and it would help develop the Marvel universe in a way it hasn't been
