AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Display Spotted At Osaka Comic-Con As More Actors Address Their MCU Returns

Though it's not exactly very revealing, a "Road To The Avengers" display has been spotted at Osaka Comic-Con. We also have new quotes from Kelsey Grammar, Alan Cumming, and more...

Osaka Comic-Con 2025 took place in the Japanese city's Intex Osaka from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5, and while we didn't get any sort of major news out of the event, some photos of the "Road to the Avengers" booth have now been shared online (via The Direct).

The Avengers: Doomsday display isn't very revealing (it'll be another while before we see any official promo material), but we do get another look at the movie's updated logo, as well as some banners and standees for Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

We've heard from several actors who are set to make their MCU returns for the next big Marvel Studios event, they all say pretty much the same thing: They still haven't read a script.

While speaking to Rob Lowe on his podcast, Kelsey Grammar said he is "excited" to play Beast again in Doomsday, though he remains in the dark about much of the plot. "I've had a preliminary introduction to the idea; they're still very secretive about the script."

Thunderbolts* star Wyatt Russell would only say, “Honest to God, I don’t know what I'm doing, I have no clue, I've not read a script," during an appearance on Driven with Andrew Freund.

Alan Cumming has been a little more forthcoming about his return as Nightcrawler, and recently hinted that he will be involved in a fight scene with Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards. Now, the actor has revealed that he is working on some stunts, and the members of his team were left "gobsmacked."

“They're like, ‘Are you OK? You're really limber.’ When I told them I was 60, they were like, ‘What?!’”

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027. Both films will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves”, said The Russos in a statement after the SDCC panel.

Is it just me? But the way that Thunderbolts finished kind of tells us how the FF movie ends. Right? They end up in the "main" Marvel universe. 616?

So this year so far has produced two turds. BNW and Thunderbolts. Hoping FF and Superman don't fail.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - Thunderbolts definitely wasn't a "turd" - can't comment on BNW as I haven't seen it yet but I'd imagine it's just kinda mid rather than being shit like you seem to think it is.

Yeah it was a bit odd to do that in the Thunderbolts post credit scene BUT it was done in a way that left it kinda ambiguous too. If the F4 have come to the main universe, we don't know the context - Was their universe destroyed? Are they following Doom to 616? Did Reed discover something about 616 and travel there to investigate? Are the F4 even on the ship or did they just send a probe of some sort to make contact with 616? Maybe the F4 were on the ship for a completely different reason and an incursion started happening and they got dragged into 616 by accident? Maybe they're originally from 616 and their movie is about them trying to find a way home?

Lots of possibilities about WHY that scene happens, and we'll find out in July.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - not necessarily. I mean, honestly, that’s what I always assumed even before the post credits scene for TBolts. BUT, it is equally as likely that FF ends normally after they save the day and that them showing up on 616 is still something we have to have explained when that acne arrives in Doomsday? Maybe.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - Must suck being so tasteless that you think that Thunderbolts is a bad movie. Sorry man.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - What if it's not the F4 in that ship?

@WEAPONXOXOXO - yeah, I really disliked that reveal.

I thought each key team (Avengers, F4 and X-Men) would each be on their own universe so would have to fight to protect it from dissapearing or something, it was an exciting/new concept for the MCU.... but now this Thunderbolts after credits scene kinda spoiled the beggining of their arc.

I was dissapointed with this choice/reveal by Marvel/Feige...

@DiegoMD - I paid for the movie. My opinion. Relax with the insults.

Not too surprised that actors like Grammar or Wyatt haven’t read a script yet since they likely haven’t begun shooting yet or might just be given their sides in order to just know about their roles in the story rather then have the full script for security reasons etc.

Also in regards to Cumming , dudes always been lanky which is one of the reason he fit the character well imo.

Off-topic a bit, but if anyone has seen Cap 4 BNW, can anyone explain why Sam would fly directly toward Washington Monument, knowing Red Hulk was right on his tail? Dude flies to one of the most populated tourist spots in DC. Ross even knocks tons of concrete blocks down which probably killed many people below. I feel like Sam would know better but the writers just didn't care.

@TheFinestSmack - Because it would give a pretty looking action scene in the movie of course. But yes from a tactical standpoint, it’s quite a stupid move.

Possibly trying to get closer to the Potomac River as that would be the closest area free of people in that area?
TheFinestSmack
TheFinestSmack - 5/13/2025, 11:21 AM
@mountainman - that's possible, but Sam goes directly at the tower and dodges it, seemingly hoping Ross hits it and that tower is always filled with people. I don't normally nitpick this sort of shite, but it's been bothering me haha.

Why do i get the feeling that they rushing these 2 avengers movies? Like you could tell even the actors are genuinely shocked as we are. God i hope marvel still has the flare because after thunderbolts underwhelming success i hope they won't become reactionary like DC.

SteviesRightFoo - 5/13/2025, 11:22 AM
@Gabimaru - they feel rushed because they most likely are. They're floundering after releasing a panoply of crap over the last few years. I'm not getting drawn in by the tepid thunderbolts 'hype'

Idk if they’ll be revisited anytime soon but I could see it happening down the line

@BlackStar25 -

Why do you say that?

Never doubt commies' desire to put a girlboss in something.

The Emilia Clark supah dupah skrull could easily return.

And Kevin Fartie may want to show SLEET arresting skrull gangbangers and flying them to Argentina.

I'm so excited for what this movie could potentially be. Whether or not it lives up to that potential is another thing tho.

@ObserverIO - can you imagine the quality of writing these films will have given the amount of characters? They are setting up to be a complete mess

This could be the third best MCU movie.

The conservative hating, and brainwashing and social engineering Marxist communist artifa BLM worshipping scumbags at Disney don't deserve or earn a penny from any of us anymore.
