Avengers: Endgame is being billed as the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and based on the movies we know are on the way from Marvel Studios over the next few years, it's clear that things are about to change a lot for this shared world.

According to Joe Russo, once the Infinity Saga wraps up, we can look forward to an MCU that's more diverse and inclusive than ever before. "The future of these movies will be an inclusive one," the filmmaker revealed. "Diversity, both in front of and behind the camera, will be its gold standard."

The Eternals is rumoured to include a gay lead in the form of Hercules, while Shang-Chi will feature an Asian lead and director with Short Term 12's Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm.

The MCU has been criticised in the past for not focusing enough on diversity and relegating many non-white characters to supporting roles, while we still haven't seen an LGBT lead in any of Marvel's movies. That changing is definitely a good thing, and while some trolls will take issue with it, this universe is finally about to start reflecting our own and that's long overdue.

What do you guys hope this means for the MCU moving forward?

As long as this inclusivity is true to the characters in the comics they can do what they want. I wouldn’t expect a white Blade any more than a black Thor.

@vincanss - exactly. It should be natural occurring. Not for the sake of just doing it. Whether it’s race, gender, sexuality etc

Meh. I couldn't give two shits about "inclusivity". Give me characters that are fun and interesting regardless of their ethnicity or gender... fine. Go out of your way just to pander to different groups, based primarily on a marketing strategy? Lame imo. I understand the younger generation has mostly bought into this concept, but to me, it mostly comes off as pandering.
