Avengers: Endgame is set to dominate the Chinese box office over the coming week, and after scoring an impressive $28.1 million during midnight screenings on Tuesday, early estimates for its opening day point to a record haul of $107 million. As a result, the Marvel Studios movie has set a new record in the Middle Kingdom that easily eclipses
Monster Hunter 2's debut.
Current projections are all over the place, but analysts believe that initial estimates of a $250 million - $280 million opening weekend could now go as high as $300+ million. Word of mouth is strong in China, so
Endgame exceeding expectation is pretty much guaranteed.
As of right now, it's thought that the movie will ultimately earn around $521 million in China which will make it the highest grossing Hollywood release of all-time in the country, and also makes it the fifth biggest film behind local hits
Wolf Warrior 2,
The Wandering Earth,
Operation Red Sea, and
Detective Chinatown 2.
Avengers: Endgame is also expected to break records in North America over the weekend and while it doesn't seem as if it will ultimately top
Avatar, it could take the #2 spot by knocking
Titanic down the charts. As always, we'll be sure to keep you guys updated.
Here's a breakdown of every confirmed and rumoured
MCU movie and TV show coming after Avengers: Endgame!
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Spider-Man: Far From Home's very existence is pretty much a spoiler in and of itself as it basically tells moviegoers that, yes, the wall-crawler will find a way to return in Avengers: Endgame despite being dead. That's not the end of the world, though, and this sequel is shaping up to be something very spectacular indeed.
After all, we're going to see Spidey working with Nick Fury and Maria Hill to take on Mysterio, a villain fans have been desperate to see on the big screen for years now.
Jake Gyllenhaal will obviously be playing Quentin Beck, while The Vulture's return understandably has theorists going nuts about the possibility of the Sinister Six assembling in a third Spider-Man movie from Marvel Studios. As of right now, though, we don't know whether or not their partnership with Sony stretches that far.
