8 Surprise AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Cameos Which Would Make It The Greatest Marvel Movie Ever
Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a massive movie, but if any one of these characters were to make a surprise appearances come 2018, then it would make it perhaps Marvel's most exciting release...
When you take into account the fact that it will have been six years in the making by the time Avengers: Infinity War is released and that it has the writers and directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War behind the cameras, it's fair to say that this may very well be Marvel Studios' best movie yet. However, there are still a few different things they could do to guarantee it.
While seeing Earth's Mightiest Heroes (alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy) go to war with Thanos promises to be nothing short of incredible, the inclusion of certain other characters is a must.
In fact, even just one of the heroes and villains listed below showing up in Avengers: Infinity War could very well make sure that it's not just a great Marvel movie, but their best yet. To make a statement as bold as that, you'd best believe I've chosen some very specific BIG names below, so read on to find out which characters I believe we most need to see make their big MCU debuts come May 4th, 2018...
8. Doctor Doom
There's been some speculation that Victor Von Doom could show up in Avengers: Infinity War after the Russo Brothers shared and later deleted a very intriguing scouting photo from a location which looked an awful lot like Latveria (or, er, Asgard), and his presence here would be truly mind-blowing. The villain played a key role in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline this movie is inspired by, and it's hard to imagine who besides Loki could hope to take his place here.
Of course, by now, you're already thinking that the chances of Doom showing up are slim to none because of him being owned by Fox, and I'll admit that's an issue. However, it's hard to believe that studio will want to use him for a THIRD time in their next Fantastic Four reboot, and if they were willing to swap Ego the Living Planet for Negasonic Teenage Warhead to get some new powers, some sort of deal could have been made for Doctor Doom to make the leap to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If he does show up, how Marvel handles that promises to be very interesting indeed.
7. The Defenders
There appears to be a very real divide between Marvel Studios and Marvel Television thanks to the Kevin Feige/Isaac Perlmutter feud, so that more than likely has already put a stop to any small screen characters making the leap to Avengers: Infinity War. However, considering the fact that he's been asked about a crossover on multiple occassions and seems to have a great handle on what fans want, Feige must realise that The Defenders showing up in this movie would be an excellent idea (especially as their shows are among the most watched on global streaming giant Netflix).
Whether it's a blink and you'll miss it cameo of the street level superheroes tackling a threat in New York City or Daredevil and company actually meeting Earth's Mightiest Heroes and joining them in their battle against Thanos, these characters showing up is essential, especially as they deserve a role in this movie after being snubbed in Captain America: Civil War. So, here's hoping differences can be put aside to make this a reality a couple of years from now!
6. Venom
Worryingly, Sony Pictures appears to be moving forward with a Venom spinoff which will have no ties to Spider-Man or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As if that wasn't bad enough, it will likely be produced by The Amazing Spider-Man knuckleheads Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, so you have to hope with all your might that Kevin Feige has talked sense into Amy Pascal. Why?
Well, it was during the original Secret Wars that the wall-crawler came across an alien suit which he was able to replace his destroyed costume with, and if Peter Parker is heading into outer space with the rest of The Avengers in Infinity War, it would make sense for him to encounter the symbiote during this adventure. Marvel could then have him keep the suit for the next Spider-Man solo movie or have the hero keep it in the untitled fourth instalment of this franchise, but Tony Stark's reaction to Peter wearing a powerful new alien costume instead of the one he designed for the youngster would be a lot of fun, as would seeing a comic book faithful Eddie Brock get his hands on it down the line.
5. Adam Warlock
Teased in Guardians of the Galaxy, this character not making some sort of appearance in Avengers: Infinity War would do the movie a disservice. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Earth's Mightiest Heroes need someone to rally behind, and while Star-Lord and company could very easily be the ones who arrive on Earth to warn The Avengers about Thanos, a powerful and mysterious figure like Adam showing up would actually be a lot more interesting.
Those unfamiliar with Infinity Gauntlet would no doubt be left reeling upon the reveal that he's sending the heroes to their deaths in order to distract Thanos until he can bring in some heavy duty backup to take out the Mad Titan, and there are definitely a lot of very interesting things Marvel could do with both that twist and the character moving forward. His ties to the Soul Stone also make Adam a likely candidate to make his presence felt in this movie, and of all the possible cosmic heroes and villain who could be introduced in Infinity War, this guy has to be a priority.
4. Red Skull
When we last saw the Red Skull, it appeared as if he was being transported into another realm after trying and failing to wield the power of the Tesseract by hand. While Hugo Weaving has said on a number of occasions that he has very little interest in reprising the role, the iconic Captain America villain being brought back when Thanos gets his hands on that particular Infinty Stone makes a lot of sense, especially as it could set the stage for what's to come in the next wave of movies starring the Star Spangled Avenger.
A team-up between Thanos and Red Skull would certainly be something different; after all, we don't know where the HYDRA leader ended up, so it's perfectly feasible that he could have somehow crossed paths with Thanos and has been working with him for some time whe Avengers: Infinity War begins. Admittedly, this one is a stretch, but we're talking about one of the Marvel Universe's greatest villains here, so I see no reason why he couldn't be brought back here to really shake things up and deliver some very unexpected twists and turns.
3. The Warbound
We know that Thor: Ragnarok is going to going to loosely adapt Planet Hulk, and that characters like Miek and Korg will be showing up in some form. Assuming the Jade Giant's fate is left up in the air by the time the credits roll on the God of Thunder's next solo outing, having him return in his gladiatorial armour alongside his Warbound (even if that's a smaller group than what we saw in the comic books) would be downright awesome and one of those moments which would no doubt have comic book fans like us grinning from ear to ear.
Having The Hulk bring in this sort of backup makes perfect sense, and this is exactly the sort of third act reveal which would be needed to help turn the tide in The Avengers' battle against Thanos. Of all those listed here, I truly believe that this is one of the most likely possibilities, and while a solo Hulk movie still seems unlikely, showing this new side of the Green Goliath as he's paired up with a team of alien fighters could help dramatically change his status quo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.
2. Nova
Guardians of the Galaxy introduced us to the Nova Corps, but director James Gunn appears to have very little interest in introducing Nova to that franchise (which is understandable considering the fact that the director wants to keep the focus on Peter Quill/Star-Lord as its only human character). However, Avengers: Infinity War seems like the ideal place for this fan-favourite hero to come into play, especially as the Nova Corps are going to need all the help they can get against Thanos. Bringing in Nova would be a smart move on Marvel's part, too, especially as he's a prime candidate for his own space set movie at some point in Phase 4.
With any luck, they'll go with the Richard Rider version instead of the younger Sam Alexander, but seeing any version of Nova on the big screen at this point would be pretty damn awesome. Of course, introducing a new hero like this along with all of the mythology that entails could be a big ask for a movie as busy as Avengers: Infinity War, but if anyone can make it work, it's the team working behind the scenes on this highly anticipated release.
1. Galactus
Look, I know this one is probably wishful thinking, but it would be incredible for Fantastic Four villain Galactus to show up in Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel has already tried to bring the villain and his herald the Silver Surfer into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (they offered Fox the chance to keep Daredevil in return for the duo), and with the rival studio needing their permission to make that Legion TV series, it's a possibility that it could happen at some point in the next couple of years.
Whether it would be wise to utilize a foe as important as Galactus in movie which are supposed to be focusing on Thanos is hard to say, but how cool would it be for the World Eater to show up in the after-credits scene once the Man Titan is dealt with? The stage would be perfectly set for the new big bad of Phase 4 and beyond (and he wouldn't be a cloud). The chances of us getting both Galactus and Doctor Doom are slim though, so I'll let you decide who should be a priority for Marvel Studios. Either way though, you can't deny it would be amazing to see this iconic villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
