When Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters worldwide in 2014, it opened the flood gates for more of the 'unexplained' and 'unexplored' parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically the Cosmic side of the universe itself. In the film, it introduced us to some of the bigger, more unknown Marvel Cosmic characters of the MCU.

As well as characters introduced in Guardians, The Avengers was one of the first films to introduce the broader cosmic side of the universe, with the introduction of Thanos, and a reference to the Cosmic Entity, Death.

In The Art of the Movie for Guardians of the Galaxy, Death, Infinity, Eternity, and Entropy were given back stories for their characters, who were briefly seen in Guardians through the explanation of the Infinity Stones. Celestials are also present, as seen in the hologram in the Collectors museum, and the planet-sized head of a Celestial, 'Knowhere'. The introduction to the Celestial Eson the Searcher hopefully will bring more of the Celestials to the forefront of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and subsequent sequels.

I've speculated that those Cosmic Entities, specifically Death, will have a prominent role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Infinity War. Since it was these Cosmic Entities who were the ones to create the 'Stones', it would make sense to have them involved in some capacity.

The introduction to these characters alone is not a coincidence and should not be taken as just simple easter eggs to the broader side of Marvel Cosmic.

The reference and mention of Death and the other Cosmic Entities, coupled with the quest for the Infinity Stones by Thanos is such a pivotal part in the comic storylines Infinity War, The Infinity Gauntlet, and Thanos Quest. Other than Thanos and Death, the other major Cosmic Entities also factor into those storylines. Hopefully the introduction of these characters in Guardians leads to something that Marvel can do justice to, and really open the door for something entertaining and spectacular as well as something, other-worldly.

Well that's it, how do you guys feel about marvel expanding on the Celestials and Cosmic Entities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
