Marvel Rumors Blame Disney Executives For MCU's Multiverse Saga Problems; Blade's Future Addressed

New Marvel rumours point to Disney executives interfering with Kevin Feige's original Multiverse Saga plans, while new updates address Blade's future, Black Panther 3, Avengers: Secret Wars, and more.

Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga hasn't played out quite the way anyone expected after the highs of the Infinity Saga. Issues with quantity over quality and a move into streaming saw Kevin Feige spread thin, leading to the studio's first critical and commercial disappointments.

Did Feige drop the ball, or was the pressure from Disney executives to blame? According to The Cosmic Circus, while Feige intended to expand the MCU with stories focusing on certain genres—cosmic, supernatural, and street-level, for example—"higher management pushed for more interconnectivity and ruined the original plans."

No additional details are provided, but it sounds like Feige's plans to explore new corners of the MCU were ultimately derailed by Disney's desire to get as much content in theaters and on Disney+ as possible. Fortunately, things appear to be changing now.

The site has shared more MCU rumours, including new details on Avengers: Secret Wars. Apparently, Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel will reunite "soon," with that being "one of the few storylines that’ll get a resolution come Secret Wars."

Looking beyond that movie, it seems there's a bit of push and pull between Marvel Studios and Disney+. The streamer "doesn’t want them to reduce their output because then they’d lose a huge chunk of their subscribers, but they also don’t want shows that are meant to be the equivalent of a Marvel movie in terms of spectacle and CGI-heavy."

In other news, Black Panther 3 will be one of the first MCU movies released post-Secret Wars alongside X-Men and Ghost Rider. According to Alex Perez, "There have been discussions about the Savage Land, but not necessarily for Black Panther 3. In regard to Brother Voodoo, there are possibilities to introduce him for sure, although not certain about Black Panther 3."

Finally, the insider reveals that there have been "talks" about what Blade's future looks like both with and without Mahershala Ali. So, we may not have seen the last of the Daywalker just yet. It's also reiterated that the Champions will get their own project, with VisionQuest reportedly setting the stage for the MCU's Young Avengers.

The confirmed (or semi-confirmed, at least) cast of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).

Also appearing are Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), and Noah Jupe.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

if that rumor is true, the Disney execs are short-sighted morons (what else is new)

they'll get way more longevity out of the MCU, and have a chance at escaping the "homework" criticism, if they establish different corners of that world.

they're going to drive directly into the continuity ditch of print comics if they don't expand & diversify.

Gee, ya think?!

It's ALMOST as if anyone with even a single functioning brain cell could see - and was telling you morons - that the MCU's post-EG issues stemmed mostly from streaming oversaturation as dictated by the Bobs (mostly Chapek and to a lesser extent Iger), but some of y'all contrarian cunts were all just so fuckin' eager to celebrate the big bad mainstream's downfall that you rushed to put the blame on Feige!

"No matter what, we don't care if it's true or not, Feige must fall! They took our leader, our messiah, so we'll take theirs too!"

Right? Right?!

Right...

@TemporarilyHere - Never understood the Feige hate recently. This is the same guy who threatened to quit if they didn't bring in RDJs Iron Man to be in Civil War and ultimately make Cap 3 CW (Best MCU film btw) and IIRC, the studios wanted Caps team to face off an opposing team led by Ruffalos Hulk (ew).

“Young” Avengers. They should have waited for the kids who played Cassie, Tommy and Billy to grow into their roles instead if rushing this.

Team up movies. We don’t need solo movies of established characters. If they haven’t had a solo movie yet that’s fine, but other than that you have to have cool team up movies. Everyone in the MCU knows each other. In the real world all these heroes would help each other out to make life easier for them lol.

@KineticAce - Agreed. They can't possibly use all the characters that Kevin wants to use if they don't.

PLUS, the team-ups will increase sales.

Win-win.

Leave it to Disney to hose everything up. they did the same with Star Wars and are in process of doing the same with their live adaptations. And their recent animated stuff isn't great either.

Brother Voodoo would be awesome, but not as a Marvel Special Presentation as an R-rated film.

These movies are decided by a committee, they have scenes the PRODUCERS WANT in said movie so they'll start pre-vis years before. Then they pick it hired hand and a writer to stitch it all together. This isn't how movies are made dude. If it weren't for the team up movies they'd be belly up by now

At DC Gunn has the power to hire a writer and director BEFORE all of these other hoops and they get to craft the story TOGETHER.
He worked under Baldy for so long, that's why this method works. Peacemaker, Lanterns, The Penguin, Superman, and now Clayface are the cream of the crop and it's only going to get better

OF COURSE it’s the execs. Why can’t THEY be put on a leash so the creatives can actually cook and serve up a delicious dish? Cheapskates…

I mean , we already knew Chapek put out a D+ mandate to put out as much content for their streaming service as possible of which we are just now finishing to deal with the effects of with VisionQuest.

Also if Disney doesn’t want to lose subscribers with reduced output while also not wanting Marvel shows with the spectacle of the movies then they shouldn’t have cancelled Wonder Man & Daredevil then!!.
