Thanos Could Be Seen As The "Main Character" Of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR According To Kevin Feige
Despite a couple of big screen appearances, Thanos has yet to make much of an impact in the MCU. However, that's all set to change when the Mad Titan takes on a plethora of heroes in Infinity War...
Thanos has been set up as the main antagonist in Avengers: Infinity War with some brief appearances in earlier Marvel Studios films, but the Mad Titan still hasn't really made an impact on fans - certainly not to the point that he could be considered a major threat to the combined might of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Despite this, Marvel head Kevin Feige seems confident that the villain will be fleshed out sufficiently when he next menaces the screen in Infinity War, even going so far as to suggest that Thanos could be seen as the main character of the movie.
"Thanos in Infinity War is – in a movie that has a lot of characters, you could almost go so far as to say he is the main character, and that’s a bit of a departure from what we’ve done before, but that was appropriate for a movie called Infinity War."
Thanos and the Infinity Stones are skipping GOTG Vol. 2 (more on that later), so Feige and The Russo Brothers definitely have their work cut out establishing a satisfactory arc for him as we head into Infinity War - especially with so many other characters vying for audiences' attention. Do Feig's comments imply that a large portion of the film will focus solely on The Mad Titan, perhaps?
Avengers: Infinity War is currently shooting in Atlanta, and is set for release on May 4, 2018.
