Kevin Feige Explains Six-Year Wait For New AVENGERS Movies; "They Should Be The Capper To A Saga"

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has elaborated on Marvel Studios' decision to end The Multiverse Saga with two Avengers movies, explaining a new approach to Earth's Mightiest Heroes moving forward.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at Comic-Con last weekend, Kevin Feige announced that The Multiverse Saga will end with Phase 6 and the release of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. We're already nearing the end of Phase 4, and it feels like we're racing through this era of storytelling thanks to the MCU expanding to the small screen.

By the time the next Avengers movie comes out, it will have been six years since Avengers: Endgame arrived in theaters. It also means Earth's Mightiest Heroes won't assemble at all in the current and next Phases, but Feige shares a compelling explanation for this in the video below.

"The truth is, when we were doing Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, there were less projects over more years," the Marvel Studios President explains. "They were smaller projects and individual character stories, and it felt appropriate at that point, that after every two or three years that it took for a phase, we would do an 'Avengers' film."

"As [Phase] 4, 5 and 6 were coming together, there are more projects in less years – because of all the amazing stuff we’re now allowed to do on Disney+, and getting characters from Fox, Fantastic Four and Deadpool - that it felt like, certainly after 'Infinity War' and 'Endgame,' that we thought 'Avengers' movies aren’t cappers."

"So many of our movies now - Multiverse of Madness' and what you’re about to see in ['Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'], all are big team-up films introducing big parts of the mythology," Feige concluded. "'Avengers' films really should be the capper to a saga."

This makes sense, and Feige confirming that Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania will be "a big team-up" movie is definitely interesting. Could another MCU hero make an appearance in that threequel? The trailer shown at Comic-Con confirmed Scott Lang is enjoying the notoriety that comes with being an Avenger, anyway!

As for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, we may be waiting longer than usual to see them, but Avengers; The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars are coming out in very close proximity.

As a result, we can look forward to two Avengers movies in 2025 on May 2 and November 7.
