Cap's new look(s) in The Avengers..

Has anyone else noticed this small yet MAJOR detail with Cap's suit that differs from the promo image(s)???

Here's the first promo image seen of the team..

Here's the second image we see of Cap in the single posters released at the Con'

Now, just recently this image was revealed to us..

See it?? Ears in.. Ears out.. Ears in.. Then out again! I cant stand it! lol

I personally think "EARS OUT" looks a lot better. I wonder if they tried it that way, with it just not turning out well on film?? I wonder why they would even release these images so far into production KNOWING they weren't going to use the look? It just seems like it's giving fanboys TOO much to complain about.

From all the footage I've seen from set videos it indeed seems they will be keeping them covered. (while he's fighting with the cowl on that is) Being they show Cap fighting with and without a cowl at all.

Basically, I just wanted to see what the rest of you thought of the "ears in / ears out" inconsistencies, and what the reasoning is behind it.. Either way, I'm not upset with any particular look shown to us. I just wondered if anyone else was wondering about it too. Post your thoughts below!

Therein lies the paradox.

We don't really know if ears out looks better in real life. Definitely looks better when drawn. But I can't recall seeing any renderings with the ear covers drawn on. ?

Perhaps in the film, Cap decides to experiment with his look, seeing what he looks like with ears in and out then just goes with in....but I don't see Cap worrying much about fashion during an alien invasion

Maybe he wears the ears out mask then decides his ears need protection.

I was getting the feeling that we may see two or more different types of cowls for Cap' in this film. Like, maybe towards the end of the second act either Tony Stark or S.H.I.E.L.D. give him a more "field ready" cowl for protection (and,or) communication reasons. It's definitely gotten me curious though..

BRING ON THAT TRAILER!!

@Greengo @ComicalDisaster @BuckyBarnes Thanks for taking the time out..

Oh snap.

I said "But I can't recall seeing any renderings with the ear covers drawn on. ?"

What can I say... I have my senior (Gusto) moments. :)

I know right! I wish they would just release a trailer so we could see if his ears are out or in... lol... doesn't particularly matter to me though... it looks fine from what they've shown either way to me so as long as it looks good I'm fine with it...

I don't mind either way but it is weird.

Hmmm. Well the latest promo has ears out but the set footage says different.

Maybe it's an additional 'helmet' as such. More like a battle armour?

Who knows?...apart from Marvel and Evans' ears of course

The First Avenger also had differences between promotional material and what's seen on film. (full neck covering, different chin strap positioning-not on chin, much more textured shoulder pads)
It just happens sometimes. The toys and various products have used these "slightly different from film" designs for Cap.

You also forgot how the wings on the mask are first layered, then theyre emblazoned. just thought id let ya know.

Surely the last "promo" image is a fake. Not only are his ears out, but Iron man is wearing his Mark III suit.

@Captainrogers Surely, changes like these often occur from production art to film/toys/etc.. I'm just wondering, why all the back and forth so far in?

@0SageMode0 Indeed.. Also, the A in the "ears out" images are a relatively wider style version.

@ncreb lol Makes all the difference though right??

@Kung[frick]oala I don't know man.. Those are definitely new slides of Cap' and Hulk, and I'm sure we'll see at least two different Stark suits. If that's a fake, it was very well executed..

Good eye. I agree that ears out looks better. I think a chin strap would have worked well too.

I think the wider "A" on the forehead, lower closer to the eyes would look way better.... but that's just a bit nitpicky. They're making a goddamn Avengers film!!!!!!

@BIGBMH @KaneVonDoom Agreed and Agreed.. Thanks guys!
