In this free preview of Fury's Big Week #8 (of 8) from Comixology, we see that S.H.I.E.L.D. has possession of both The Leader and The Destroyer armor. If you want to find out more, you can purchase the digital issue for a mere 0.99 cents. Will be interesting to see if we catch a glimpse of these two and/or The Abomination in The Avengers.

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in April 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing of Scarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. Whedon was brought on board in April 2010 and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Zak Penn. Production began in April 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Cleveland, Ohio in August 2011 and New York City in September 2011. The film was converted to 3D in post-production.

The Avengers is scheduled for release on May 4, 2012 in the United States in 2D and 3D.

I've been reading this series with interest. So it seems SHIELD have been analysing the whiplash harness, examining the wormhole/9 worlds theory and Sterns mutation.

On top of that they seem to have been able to turn The Destroyer into a gun!!

Clever, clever!!

Also with Hammer in police custody and Blonsky in military hands it makes you wonder if any of these guys/things are gonna be knocking around in The Avengers??

Masters of Evil for The Avengers 2, anyone????

@ orphix

not a bad idea with them going down the masters of evil road in the avengers 2.

but personally i think they should save that for the avengers 3.

the avengers 2 vision, ultron & introduce black panther.

the avengers 3 introduce ms.marvel & the masters of evil being the villains.

If they're not going to have any more Hulk solo movies, the should have the Leader and Abomination come back in an Avengers film and make it like the Gamma World episodes of the Avengers animated series. Those were great.

That being said, I think Hulk is going to be so great in The Avengers that he is going to get another solo movie.

Read all of em. Only 99 cents on the Marvel app. A lot fo fun seeing the movies told from different perspectives and seeing Black Widow show up at the campus where Hulk flipped out/etc. Very cool.

TheHitchhikingGhost - 3/29/2012, 7:00 AM
I agree with MassExecutions (lol). I was thinking that Hulk will get a lot of love from Avengers and it will steamroll into another solo film that will hopefully/finally be the first financially viable one made.

I would really like to see another Hulk movie, especially if they bring back the rest of the cast (Tyler, Hurt, Roth, Nelson, Burrell, etc.). Doc Samson, Rick Jones (Justin Long anyone?) and Rulk would be awesome additions to the MCU.

I did wonder about 'the masters of evil' storyline when Whedon said that he would like to make Avengers 2 more personal - as opposed to large scale epic.

If The Avengers is 'The Dirty Dozen' then Avengers 2 could be a little bit like 'Silverado'. Everyone getting a personal battle rather than being in an all out global conflict.

Of course it does depend alot on what films they concentrate on inbetween avengers 1 & 2.

@ggoblin31 - been reading it too, makes some nice connections between the stories. And if you know some of the spoilers from that Avengers Storybooks you also have subtle references to some things that are going to happen.

@Orphix..did you peep project P.E.G.A.S.U.S is where Selvag is working on the cosmic cube?

hawkeye is stationed there by Fury..did you see the cube in that circular contraption near the platform where we seen loki appear in those screen shots?

i think this is def where he continues to mind control selvage and they get the cube to work..loki takes advantage the moment they get it to open up a portal

Love it! When they teased the Leader in TIH I about crapped my pants! Tim Blake Nelson would've been an awesome leader. He was pretty creepy in TIH.

Personally, I always thought they mightve brought in the Leader to team up with Loki in the Avengers.. y'know, to control the hulk and abomination.. plus, he was pretty cool in A:EMH too.

I consider the Leader to be the Hulks best villain IMO

I kinda like that the Leader (Mr. Blue) is naked. Not enough naked villians these days.

This is getting purchased by me this weekend.

A Hulk solo movie could happen again, very easily if the Avengers and the upcoming TV show are hits.

@Froggy- One good thing about CBM's is the charactors are usually more well known and famous than the actors portraying them. Of course, big names help attract more ticket sales, but as the original Superman proved so long ago, sometimes the charactor and movie can make a relatively unknown actor a world reknown star.

Too bad the page featuring Sterns doesn't show much, would really love to see a design for a live-action version of The Leader. (I've been so curious about it since 2008.)

@ROBBEATZZZ

Yeah - too bad about Mickey. Though, to be fair to him, I did think his character got shafted in IM2 as well. :o)

SPOILER:

Yes - Hawkeye and Selvig are working at PEGASUS (which is based in Mojave) so I expect big scenes there in The Avengers. Also seeing as Black Widow is seen taking down Hawkeye in the avengers trailer I might guess he gets effected by Loki too - or at least there is some confusion caused by Loki.

Quick geek note - when Stark opens up the boxes in IM2 that has the gear in to make his cyclotronic-element maker - they have the word PEGASUS stenciled on them.

Saying Ruffalo couldn't carry a Hulk movie doesn't make sense to me. Thor starred an unknown in the title role and Chris Evans wasn't a major star before Captain America either -- both movies did more than alright. Besides, I thought the Hulk reboot was considered a success even though it didn't set the world on fire at the box office?

Marvel announced around ComicCon last year that they are in the process of doing a live action Hulk show that will line up with all the Marvel movies. As well as 2 other live action tv shows, one of them being Punnisher but fox has taken over on that and they are changing things around like they always do :( .... I wonder if Ruffalo will be Bruce for the Hulk tv show.

Quick geek note- yes i remember that..lots of ppl missed that egg...i had to pause it to make sure thats what it said..lol..Fury was def trying to put Tony on the right track...

I think to make the whole shared universe thing more viable they should cross pollinate villains. Would love to see Cap against the leader. Hulk against a creature from asgard or something. Thor against Baron Zemo and Arnim Zola. It would be a Convincing way to keep the shared universe so after avengers they don't just stop helping one another.

Also I want another Hulk Letterier film. Everyone in that was great, and despite transplanting Norton with Ruffalo I still wanna keep as much of the continuity the same as possible. And cmon let's be honest after avengers people are gona be clamoring fo more Hulk so we will see him in some fashion. Could even be that del toro tv show, although I would MUCH prefer films
Orphix
Orphix - 3/29/2012, 8:01 AM
@ROBBEATZZZ

yep - thats how I read it too with regards to how Cap is found.

It always bugs me that SHIELD have always been looking for him. I always thought it was much more 'mythic' and makes him much more of a 'legend' if he was just found by accident!

Everyone should believe he is dead.

As for reading these comics in the UK I just used Comixology. If you have a visa card you should be okay.
