When news of a Joss Whedon penned S.H.I.E.L.D tv series hit recently, fans wondered if the Marvel "one-shot" Item 47 would tie into it in any way since some agents are featured. Well, although it may still of course, one cast member who probably won't be popping up is the star of Item 47, Lizzy Caplan. The Cloverfield actress was asked about it by SHH at a press junket for her new movie 3, 2, 1... Frankie Goes Boom, and responded with the following..

"I can't really, I have my own show so I will not be a regular on the Marvel 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' show. But I'm glad people are so excited about that. I think it's a good idea... Maybe I could do some little thing."

The show in question is the new Showtimes series Masters of Sex. This doesn't mean Caplan definitely won't appear, and she certainly sounds interested, but it doesn't seem very likely judging by her comments. Some other Item 47 cast members - Titus Welliver and Maximiliano Hernández - have also expressed interest, so we'll see how it shakes out.
