Early Estimate Out for THE AVENGERS Says It Will Top HUNGER GAMES At The Domestic Box Office

Soooo Many of you Marvel Maniacs think Youll make more money than TDKR at the Box Office with The Avengers Eh?

I know Estimates are Estimates and 75% of the time not very accurate but.....Boxoffice.com usually is. The war between The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises has been ongoing since both films were slated for Summer 2012.

So the question many have in mind is How Much? I know domestic and overseas reciepts are two different things and in the end they add up to one total. Marvelites and Nolanites head to head at which Movie will open big...which movie will make more in the end...which movie will topple the other...Well here are the estimates as posted By Boxoffice.com

Title Release Date Distributor Opening Weekend Cumulative

The Avengers May 4, 2012 Disney $155,000,000 $370,000,000

So I Know the Flick is still like a month and some change from being released and that opening weekend total can go up some, but what do you all think? Is Harry Potter's last fiasco in danger of losing that Opening Weekend Record of $169 Million? Do you think TDKR will come out on top with an even bigger opening and a greater domestic haul? Here's something to think about, not hating remember that just stating the facts.

The Hunger Games Lionsgate $115,000,000 $270,000,000

So with The Avengers being a way bigger Project, and The Hunger Games being a newly found franchise is it bad that The Hunger Games will come out with only $100 Million; shorter than Marvels fiasco? Sound off below on your thoughts and opinions! Oh and I have Scar Jo as the Teaser Image only because that's about the Only Hot and good thing about Marvels clown show.

Is this the only argument Nolanite can bring up? Frankly, I could care less about how much money it makes! I just want to see a good movie.

Sounds like someone is trying to start a flame war with an article teaser that clear makes it evident.

SUPERSAIYANFAN

Pretty much anything that comes out of your mouth is garbage. Your anti-marvel tirade is amateur at best and it shows in almost every Avengers article. Next time you wanna speak, make some coherent sense and try not make yourself look like a hypocrite buddy.

@Nolanite

I'm the exact opposite. I'm seeing Avengers and skipping out on The Hunger Games (let's agree on something here: the book was anus.)

supersayianfan1:Sage is right. This article was made with bad intentions. Just look at the title, the teaser, and Nolanite's comments about The Avengers.

For example I'll copy and paste em:

"Oh and I have Scar Jo as the Teaser Image only because thats about the Only Hot and good thing about Marvels clown show."

"I could care less how much money this movie makes as well. Heck, Im not even gonna go watch it. "

Paranoia? HA. You're joking right? There's absolutlely NOTHING to be paranoid about buddy, that's your own shaky knees doing the reverse psychology spin, nice try.

And do you have some kind of fetish for Intruder? You seem to bring him up a lot in your antics on these articles even when he's not speaking to you. Sounds like a glutton for punishment to me.

Nothin anti-nolan about me. Just the obsessive fanatical cult following of his Batman fans who seem to think (or try to get everyone to believe) that his films (particularly TDK) are flawless and that no other CBM can surpass it. And I actually like TDK, but is it overrated, absolutely yes.

You just contradicted your logic HORRIBLY.

You say I'm spewing bullshit by saying "A trolling article I see.....this sucks."
And then you turn around and say "oh, I know this is a BS article".....LMAO.
I think you just enjoy seeing yourself type nonsense on these threads.

I think I just proved my point by not even saying any further word.

You got me ROFL. You're hilarious. That made my night......
Well...
It was my point to begin with. Which I proved flawlessly.
You just wanted to whine fetus style and then you got caught in your own hypocrisy and now you have nothin with any significance to say.

Carry on my boy. Carry on

Uhm ill be watching both but all you idiots with your "in nolan we trust" garbage or your marvel is the best thing since boobies have to be 12 year olds right? I hate to break it to you tdkr will not be as good as tdk. The Avengers will be the best marvel movie yet because they have planned it all out incredibly well for a new film company. Will Avengers be better then TDKR....well unlike you all I haven't saw them yet but I win regardless because I will enjoy both and won't taste nolan or whedon nut sweat for the next month or two.

Nolanite, please answer this question I have been wondering

What is it that you have against the avengers or marvel? I mean really? That is all I want to know,no argument or nothing i just really want to know what it is from a logical view point.

That doesn't sound like bad numbers to me.

I personally won't be supporting TDKR box office numbers. If I can't sneak into the theater, then I'll just watch it online or wait for it to come out on blu-ray

I can't believe this TDKR vs. Avengers battle has gotten to the point where some people are choosing not to support one or the other by not paying to see it in the theater. If you visit a comic movie website like this and refuse to see one of the 2 biggest CBM's ever, simply because you have chosen a side in a completely meaningless battle, then you need to take a step back and remember why you started coming to this site in the first place... You love this shit! There's no winners or losers in this fight.
Lilvic92
Lilvic92 - 3/17/2012, 10:13 PM
What the hell? if I choose not see a movie because I don't think it's worth paying money to see what's the problem with that?
It has nothing to do with the Avengers vs TDKR because I didn't pay to see Ghost Rider SOV either, I snuck in the movie. I refused to support SOV because I felt that it was a bad movie, I didn't want to see it lead to a sequel and I didn't think it deserved my money and I feel that way about TDKR right now.

Good call. I'm sure TDKR will be a total flop. Better not waste your money...

I'm not saying the movie looks bad. If the second trailer impresses me I'll gladly pay to see TDKR, multiple times perhaps. But right now with a mediocre first trailer and virtually NO marketing done by Warner Bros. I'm not very excited for this film.
LoudNoises
LoudNoises - 3/17/2012, 11:11 PM
On the other hand we see how many movies with amazing trailers that turn out to be complete shit?... That's right, most of them. Trailers are designed to make a film look good even if it isn't. That's a tool studios use to make sure they have a big openning because after we see the actual film and find out it's crap, the best trailer in the world won't save it. The best tool we have for judging a movie before we see it is by looking at the team that is creating it and looking at their track record. I'd say Nolan and his team haven't done to shabby in the past.

Despite all that, I couldn't disagree with you more on the TDKR trailer. I thought it was extremely well put together. A good blend of heart, mystery and action. And the child singing the national anthem in the beginning was nothing short of epic. It doesn't always take spaceships and explosions to make a great trailer.
Lilvic92
Lilvic92 - 3/17/2012, 11:33 PM
True true, but still TDKR trailer just didn't do it for me. TDK trailer however was epic in my opinion. I dont know man I'm still unsure about this movie, I'll wait ti'll I see reviews from the movie..
Nobody is perfect, Nolan has done alot of great movies but there's a first time for everything and this could be a flop. I'm not saying that it's gonna happen, but hey you never know

For the most part, this thread is pretty dumb and some of you guys should be banned from this site. It gets annoying after a while.

I was happy with the knowledge that Avengers is projected to make $370M, which would make it a great success in my book. I don't care if TDKR makes more or less than Avengers. I want Avengers to be one of the top 5 movies this year, so they keep making comic book movies. Anything more would be icing on the cake.

I will also see ASM and TDKR. Looking forward to all of them, but Avengers the most.

Why are there so many people going on about what movie will make more money? Avatar has made the most money of any film, is it better than Heat? Is it better than the Godfather? No. Twilight made a ton of cash, is it a better film than the untouchables? The usual suspects? Hell No.

Are any of you people getting any of the money films make? No. So why the argument over what might make more money?

It doesnt mean the one that makes more money is a better film.

I get drawn into these mundane arguments because of the idiocy of statements, but its going too far this bitching.

I will say however, that DC fanboys and Marvel fanboys should stick to their own topics, and let fans of the genre of CBMs enjoy this site too without the childish behaviour.

@ZiDean I couldn't agree more. I am a Marvel Fanboy at heart, but I was bummed that Green Lantern didn't do better at the box office than it did. I actually enjoyed it despite some weak plot points, and would have liked to see a sequel.

We should all be rooting for any superhero CBM to do well so they greenlight more CBMs.

Stop the hatin'!
