Mystery Actor Behind the BIG Mid-Credits Teaser of THE AVENGERS Uncovered?

Spoiler Warning: For those who ARE aware of the character(s) that'll appear in the mid-credits teaser of The Avengers, the actor(s) behind their brief portrayal may have been revealed!

Those who have already seen Marvel's The Avengers superhero assembly on the big screen, or impatiently in an unofficial format, are fully aware of the big teaser in between the assured closing credits. For those who don't wish to be spoiled, considering the movie itself is two days away, stop reading now. Again, stop reading now!

Moving along, the mid-credits teaser features an intergalactic interaction between two beings. One of the characters is listed as "The Other," portrayed by Angel actor Alexis Denisof, who also appears briefly twice during the film's opening sequences. And the other otherworldly character, heavily rumored for months prior, is a Mad Titan that goes by the name of Thanos, who's plum evilly grinning face was believed to be fully CG. However, there seems to be an actor behind the death-obsessed villain, shyly revealed by the actor himself.

Despite IMDB listing him as "Man #1," stuntman/actor Damion Poitier could be behind the live-action debut of Thanos, with a little CG boost obviously. Considering the teaser may hint at the villain taking on The Avengers in the guaranteed sequel, it's evidently possible Poitier will reprise the role full-on. This seems to be the case especially with the "Career Milestone" comment on Facebook (print-screened above). What do you think?

For those unfamiliar with Damion Poitier's work, he has starred in Jarhead and Star Trek (2009), among other things. He also had brief roles in the Joss Whedon-created Firefly and Dollhouse TV series; which may have landed him this gig. For a better representation of Poitier's work, watch his acting reel (2010) down below.

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”--the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, & directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble on May 4, 2012. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013!; and “Thor 2” on November 15, 2013.

I just saw the movie tonight. Everything you are hearing about how epic it is, how it's amazing, etc. is all...

FREAKING SPOT ON!! The movie is perfect, there is really no other way to put it. I hardly ever write on this site but I had to voice my opinion on this epic, life changing movie.

If anyone doesn't mind spoilers you may ask away. For all others get ready, it's what all comic movie fans want and more.

The Avengers have Assembled!!!

LOL, yes I typed life changing. Was just trying to get across that the movie really and truly kicks ass. The end credit scene, not the Thanos one, is related to something that is said in the movie by Iron Man to the rest of the crew.

That's my only not asked spoiler of the night!

Hell, i say give the man a shot at playing Thanos, could surprise us and end up being like Hiddleston and become the next actor to play a great villian.

"life changing"? lol, if anything is gonna kill this movie quicker at the box office it's the over-hype!

Love the film, seen it 3 times already but its a pretty basic and easy to follow popcorn action flick. It's spectacle at its finest, not a movie that has any deep of concerning topics of thoughtful meanderings or artistic visual narrative interpretations to be considered for major awards or to be labeled a modern classic.

..calm down fanboys!

"Jeffrey Wright for the voice of Thanos. No exceptions."

Oh man, good pick! I just looked up some interview videos of him on Youtube, and closed my eyes and pictured Thanos, and you're correct. He would sound great as him. Also, he's a great actor.
