As Marvel's The Avengers holds its number one spot at the box office, following visual effects vendors showcasing their contributions, the sound effects behind the highly-anticipated flick have been spotlighted in a featurette via SoundWorks Collection. Highlighting the many characters and elements that needed its own unique sound, watch below! In addition, more VFX companies have unveiled more of their work; check out details below!


The SoundWorks Collection talks with Supervising Sound Editor, Sound Designer, and Re-recording Mixer Christopher Boyes about his work on The Avengers.

While The Third Floor has released more photos of their previs work, Industrial Light and Magic have further showcased their rendering skills for Iron Man. And also, Whiskytree provided photos displaying their matte painting & set extension work, using the establishing shot of Black Widow's interrogation scene in Russia.

I was concerned at first about the apparent heavy use of green screens and CG backgrounds, but I must say they really pulled it off. I totally bought that the Helicarrier was a real ship, and that its lab windows actually showed the structural "wishbone" area outside.
