How would you rank Phase 2?

Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man

I thought Phase 2 was awesome, The Winter Soldier, Guardians of The Galaxy, and Ant-Man being the major highlights.  I enjoyed it all.  We have awhile until Phase 3, but here’s where everybody currently stands, after the events of Phase 2.  Thanks to io9.com, Click Here

Iron Man - Tony Stark is all screwed up after Avengers: Age of Ultron.  He’s still footing the bill for the Avengers, even letting them set up shop at one of his own private bunkers in upstate New York.  Emotionally though, he’s recovering from the fact his creation, Ultron almost destroyed the world.  At the moment, he is not a part of the Avengers.  And our only clue to what he actually is doing comes at the end of Ant-Man, when Steve Rogers says Tony probably can’t help, because of “the Accords”.  In any case, we know that Iron Man and Captain America won’t be on the same page, the next time they meet.

Next appearance:Captain America: Civil War.

Captain America - With Tony Stark gone, Cap is the new leader of the Avengers. He surely feels bitter toward Tony for what he did with Ultron, but also proud the team was able to overcome and defeat Ultron. With Stark now out of the equation, he’s tasked with leading and training a new batch of superheroes to defend the world as The Avengers.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Hulk - After finally forming a “bond” with someone (Black Widow), Bruce Banner flew the Hulk away from everything after it went south. Going into Phase Three, we don’t know his status. The Avengers found a downed jet, which may give clues to his location, but he could be anywhere.  All we know is that he needed time to think, and he felt he was causing the World more harm than good, so he removed himself from the equation.

Next appearance: Unknown, rumored to be in Captain America: Civil War.

Thor - Though Thor helped his fellow Avengers defeat Ultron, he was preoccupied. He had some visions and realized that the Avengers, Ultron, and Earth were pawns in a much larger game of chess.  The Infinity Gems.  He has once again left Earth for Asgard to try and figure out who, or what, is really going on.

Next appearanceThor: Ragnarok, probably. Maybe sooner, though.

Loki - He was the big bad guy in Phase One but for most of Phase Two, Loki was on the sidelines. For a brief time, he helped his brother in Thor: The Dark World, but, in the end, Loki got even badder. He finished that film posing as his father, Odin, aka the ruler of Asgard. Which means he either killed or captured his father, and now is the most powerful person in Asgard.

Next appearance: Likely Thor: Ragnarok.

Guardians of the Galaxy - The MVPs of Phase Two, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe newcomers, are somewhere in space, doing a little something good and a little something bad. We know that the mystery of Peter Quill’s father is going to be a big thing coming up, and they also have unfinished business with Thanos, who stands to play a huge role in the Infinity War.

Next appearanceGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The Vision - Keeper of the only Infinity Gem on Earth (at least, that we know of) the mysterious Vision kicked major ass in Age of Ultron. Now he’ll likely do more of the same as the most mysterious, and powerful, member of the new Avengers.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Hawkeye - In Age of Ultron, we finally found out what the expert archer had been doing for the majority of Phase Two: He spent it with his family. As we get ready for Phase Three, he’s back with them again, probably fixing the porch or something, but he’ll be back in the game when he’s needed.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

The Falcon - From best friend to trusted confidant, The Falcon is one of the newest members of The Avengers. He’s being trained by Captain America and Black Widow, and may have just met a new ally. While guarding the Avengers’ new hideout, he encountered Ant-Man, a hero who can shrink, and the Falcon is currently looking for Ant-Man.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Scarlet Witch - The Scarlet Witch lost her brother, Quicksilver, while battling Ultron, but she won’t let his death be in vain. She’s now a member of the Avengers, fighting alongside Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Vision and War Machine.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

 Quicksilver

Quicksilver is currently suffering from “Whedon’s Disorder”.  Research for a cure has been positive, chances are it’s not a chronic condition.

Next Appearance:

War Machine - He wanted some action, and now he’s got it. After working with the government in one of Tony Stark’s suits, War Machine has gone from the sidelines to a full-fledged member of the Avengers.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Ant-Man - The newest member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe tried to keep a low profile after defeating the Yellowjacket with the help of Dr. Hank Pym. However, he got on the radar of the Avengers, and now The Falcon is looking for him. He’ll join the team soon and if rumor hold true, figure out that his suit can do more than just shrink.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Dr. Hank Pym

After the events of Ant-Man, Hank is still alive and well, and most likely participating in some rehab after being shot, he’s also dealing with the fact that Scott and Hope are getting physical, and I don’t mean karate.  Hank will most likely remain a mentor for Lang in the MCU, and if Giant Man is introduced, Hank should definitely be involved.  I’m sure Hank is also studying and researching the Quantum Realm, with the hopes of attempting to bring Janet back from the dead.

Next Appearance:  Unknown

The Winter Soldier - Formerly Captain America’s best friend, Bucky, this genetically modified super soldier was on the run at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  He’s briefly alluded to in Age of Ultron with Falcon being on the case and then, at the end of Ant-Man, we see that he’s in Cap’s custody. We’ll find how he ended up in Steve Rogers’ clutches, and where his allegiances lie, soon.

Next appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Nick Fury - The man who put all of this together was a helpful, but minor, player in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Curiously, Samuel L. Jackson has said he’s not in Captain America: Civil War, so where or what Fury’s doing is a mystery.

Next appearance: Unknown.

Black Panther - Chadwick Boseman has been cast as the Wakandan superhero who, as of now, has only been tangentially referred to the films. His country is the source of vibranium, the strongest metal in the world, which is found in Cap’s shield, the Vision’s body, and Ultron’s city floating creation. As for the Panther himself, what he’s like and what his alliances are, we don’t know. We just know we’ll meet him soon.

First appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

The Wasp - As Ant-Man ended, Hope Van Dyne was given an advanced prototype suit that will make her the Wasp. She’ll, eventually, join in all this fun—but as it stands now, we have no idea when.

Next appearance: Unknown, possibly Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.

Doctor Strange - The Sorcerer Supreme was briefly name-dropped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as someone HYDRA knew was a potential threat. Benedict Cumberbatch will play the role, but we know very little of his overall connection.

First appearanceDoctor Strange.

Spider-Man - Everyone’s favorite Web-slinger is finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase Three, as played by actor Tom Holland. This is a full reboot from the Andrew Garfield films, and he’ll appear with the rest of the gang before showing up in his own movie, so how the whole story gets handled is a mystery. But it’s extremely exciting nonetheless.

First appearanceCaptain America: Civil War.

Thanos - Probably the baddest man in the galaxy, Thanos first made an appearance at the end of Phase One. He next appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, still on the hunt for some Infinity Stones. Then, at the end of Age of Ultron, he said he’s going to “do it himself.” That suggests he’s finished with being a puppetmaster and is going to take more direct action.

Next appearance: Unknown. Likely Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, maybe Thor Ragnarok, or possibly not until Avengers: Infinity War.

 Infinity Stones

There are six stones in total, and whoever can get all of them will have unlimited power. So far in the MCU, we’ve only seen four.

The Blue Space Stone (currently on Asgard, as seen in The Avengers)

The Yellow Mind stone (currently on Earth with Vision, as seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron)

The Red Reality Stone (currently with The Collector, as seen in Thor: The Dark World)

The Purple Power Stone (currently on Xandar, as seen in Guardians of the Galaxy.)

At the end of Age of Ultron, Thanos was seen with an Infinity Gauntlet with six empty slots. The above image is from a teaser trailer for 2018 and 2019’s Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2.

Yet to watch Antman.
Winter Soldier is one of the favorite CBMs. GoGT was great. Loved AoU(better than Avengers 1).

Phase 3 will be the real test, with DCEU going to roll. Civil War, though will be great, is what I am highly skeptical about. The reason for the rise in Skepticism is because it sounds too much like BvS. The only difference it seems that there will be sides, and a small armu on each sides. And with Kevin Fiege teasing it to be a simpler story, the doubts seems to b confirmed. Hopefully it proves me wrong.

Havent seen Ant Man yet, but I have a feeling it's gonna top the list.

But for now

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. Guardians of The Galaxy
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron(this one was close with Guardians but they made Ulton a joke.
4. Iron Man 3(actually liked this one)
5. Thor: The Dark World(had some cool action but mostly boring as hell.)

P.S.

By top the list I mean tie for #1.

@DrKinsolving:

Excited for BvS more than SS. Joker makes me want to see this movie but, Will Smith's Deadshot, pushes me away from this movie. Don't know about the comics, but Deadshot from the SS trailers bores me.

5.Iron man 3 (again gets a lot of hate for the twist but still enjoyed it)

6.Thor the dark world (worst phase 2 film, had a lot of potential, could have been much better but i still enjoyed it)

Yeah, I hear you, I'm still not sold on Smith yet either but I'm so hyped for Suicide Squad, Joker, Harley, Enchantress, possibly Jason Todd, there's so much going on in that trailer too, can't wait

I expect to see Thanos appear in Civil War. If only in an after credits scene. I think they need to show him take note of how Earth's heroes are divided and at odds with each other, which signals the perfect time for him to take action.

Its been said that the Civil War story will be a main theme for phase 3 and won't be resolved in just Cap 3. Also, they really need to start ramping up Thanos' involvement sonce he still currently doesn't have a single Infinity Stone that we know of. Phase 3 really needs to put more focus on Thanos collecting Infinity Stones.

1. Cap 2
2. GOTG
3. Avengers 2

Haven't seen Ant-Man yet. IM 3 and Thor 2 didn't score high enough to qualify for the list.

I flat out loved Phase 2. Here's my order.

1. Cap TWS (phenomenal, 2nd best CBM ever)
2. GOTG (unique, hilarious, full of heart)
3. Iron Man 3 (genius script, RDJ's best)
4. Age of Ultron (Whedon-y, Ultron was slightly disappointing)
5. Ant-Man (lots of heart, solid performances)
6. Thor TDW (solid Thor/Loki dynamic, weak villain)

Very excited for Phase 3, with the possible exception of Spider-Man. Wanted a more grown up wall crawler.

1. Captain America Winter Soldier: My favorite MCU movie and favorite CBM so far.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy: I absolutely LOVED this movie. It was such a hard sell and a huge risk by Marvel but it paid off HUGE. That movie has so much heart.

3. Antman: See Guardians of the Galaxy answer. Seriously though, this movie was labeled DOA by the fanboy community and it completely defied those expectations and was awesome.

4. AOU: Not a knock on the film, I really enjoyed it and it was visually iconic but it just came into what turned out to be a stacked phase 2.

5. Iron Man 3: time for an unpopular opinion. I really like Iron Man 3. It's well acted, thematically consistent, has a wonderful villain in Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce killed that role), and it continued the ongoing theme of Tony's actions coming back to bite him. Could it have done with a little less humor? Yes, and I understand that a lot of people hate the Mandarin twist but if it had just been a generic terrorist I feel like we would be universally accepting the twist. I will admit that there are probably alternate versions of this movie that would be equally good if not better (pepper actually dies, Happy actually dies, mandarin is real, ditch the mandarin and just adapt extremis, etc.) but what it is works and it works well.

6. Thor TDW: let's talk about this movie for a second. The honest truth is that it isn't great. It's honestly just an ok movie. Maybe there's a great version of the story they told to be had but I'm hard pressed to believe that Alan Taylor could have provided it seeing as how it's becoming universally accepted that he is just an awful director. This was just one of those movies that never really had a chance to be great and honestly it's probably the worst marvel movie to date.
Bulldawg2014
Bulldawg2014 - 7/22/2015, 8:24 AM
@dragons292014 honestly they are extremely different. Civil War is all about the governments of the world trying to gain control over the super human community and about the divide that creates between Tony and Steve, two men who have been fighting alongside each other for quite some time now. They are friends and allies turning on each other with the fate of the heroic community in the balance.

BVS appears to be about Batman jumping superman because he's scared that superman could be a threat and then him realizing that hes an ok guy.

Civil War is allies becoming adversaries, BVS is about adversaries becoming allies.

Great write up, i loved phase 2 even when it was going wrong in certain places it still had me hooked and went up a level on the 1st phase.

Fingers crossed CW is as good as i hope it will be because the potential of phase 3 could be nuclear :)

dragonator29 - 7/22/2015, 8:53 AM
@Bulldawg2014: Ok thanks. If that's the case then the consequences has to be harsher. While the consequences are far reaching, non of the main heroes are severely affected. Hopefully Civil War hits the right notes, and deliver us a CBM, that should be remembered for years.

My ranking time:
1.Winter Soldier:Best CBM, on par with TDK. Made me a Captain America Fanboy, and assurance that Infinity Wars is in good hands.

2.AoU:Nowhere near TWS,still much better than Avengers 1.

3.GoTG

4.Iron Man 3

5. Thor 2

Haven't watched Antman yet but sure it will be 3rd in my ranking. What about TV series?

©TheRealRemyLebeau:

What I think is, the reason why people hate AoU is:
1. Ultron not being potrayed like in comics, and still stronger than most of the Avengers.

And

2. The movie itself completely going over the head, as you said. There was so much happening, that many things completely went over the head.
