The Marvel Cinematic Universe's presence in Disney Parks continues to expand, and at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event last night, several new updates for Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure were revealed.

Avengers Campus is currently undergoing a major expansion that will double the size of the land, with construction in progress for two new attractions announced at D23 2024: Avengers Infinity Defence and Stark Flight Lab. Both are now confirmed to open in 2028.

Avengers Infinity Defence will welcome recruits with a pre-mission briefing from Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel, who will provide details on the mission to come: reassemble the Avengers to battle King Thanos.

We've known for a while that the ride will feature Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Iron Man. However, it's now also confirmed to feature Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. In a first look at the ride, the God of Thunder dons a newly designed helmet. Why? Well, it will make a nice collectable in the gift shop!

According to the Disney Parks Blog, "Once on board, you will be surrounded by massive physical sets blending seamlessly with huge media scenes, putting you into the middle of the action as you feel like you’re hurtling across many worlds. You’ll travel to iconic locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City, next to heroes you’ve come to know and love, while (spoiler alert!) coming face to face with King Thanos himself."

"On this new attraction inside Avengers Campus, you’ll sit in two-person 'gyro-kinetic pods' and roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robot arm, essentially feeling what it’s like to train like a flying Avenger. Making several high-speed manoeuvres inspired by Iron Man and more, you’ll be deployed to a test station, whirling around in a simulated flight that will have you eager to take a spin again and again."

This sounds like a lot of fun, and an exciting expansion for Avengers Campus. Currently, there's no word on whether the Paris version will add any new attractions, but we do have images of new rides coming to Avengers Research Testing Labs at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort.

It's been a big weekend for Marvel, with Avengers: Doomsday, X-Men, and VisionQuest all spotlighted on Friday night at D23. We've included some links below to all our coverage of the event.

I'm sure this will be lots of fun...

For the people who can actually afford Disney parks kind of money.

1. I find it funny that RDJ getting tens of millions to not wear a suit. Him pretending to fly off was great.

2. When does this supposedly take place? Sam only became Captain America after Tony died.

@GuardianAngel - Avengers campus has always been some weird alternate universe. Cause Tom Holland's here too but he has his own company called W.E.B

The fact that RDJ is willing to do this tells me a few things. Firstly that he has a lot of respect for marvel and despite his massive paycheck I think he's happy being in the universe again.

And two, this confirms to me even more that secret wars is gonna have him as doctor doom and iron man. It'll probably be the last time he plays iron man for real this time but I have no doubt in my mind that's happening. With the final battle possibly being Maguire, Jackman and iron man against God emperor doom. Or reed is there too idk.

@Mrcool210 - Nothing around respect, only that he's getting more money for doing next to nothing.

Would they do an RDJ Iron Man return in a ride before doing it in a movie?

Disney still quadrupling down on Mackie as Cap no matter the fact that it’s a failed experiment that will never generate revenue unless they pack his next solo outing with characters we actually care about. Also, Helmsworth should have had this helmet throughout his MCU stint

Are these Disney rides set in an alternate timeline where everything in the MCU went right?

@Loohnutick - this opens after Doomsday and Secret Wars, you’ll just have to wait and see.
