The Avengers: Pre Filming Set Visit !

It's not often we have the opportunity to take a look at a film set before production actually starts but that's exactly what we get to do right now with the upcoming Avengers movie.

It was reported earlier today that the highly talked about Marvel Studios film The Avengers was gearing up to begin set construction next month at Grumman Studios 160,000 sq ft facility in Bethpage, Long Island. It was reported that filming would take up all seven of their stages and could last months.

Searching the Internet, I came across Grumman Studios website. I thought I would share with you just how large these stages are so you can gain some understanding of just how massive an operation this is going to be.

The following stats and photo's are courtesy of GrummanStudios.com...

Hawksblueyes: These studios seem to be the size of airplane hangers. I can't wait to see the images Joss Whedon and company create in these incredible spaces.

Thanks guys. ;}

bleedthefreak: No, we don't know how much of the film is going to be shot there yet. With them expecting Marvel Studios to be there for months, it sounds like quite a bit.

Yes, I know, they were airline hangers. I grew up near there. I used to go to the movies across from them (those theaters aren't that old (and are still there- on Route 110). It's a bunch of giant garages at the moment. I mean, I respect you Hawksblueyes, but it is what it is and, frankly, it's kind of boring at the moment... sorry.

@ hawksblueyes

i don't think were be getting photos from inside these massive stages like we have with captain america & x-men first class.

i'd love to proved wrong.

i think this is got to be the anticapated comic book movie ever.

i want the avengers now.

Wow its a studio. It could be used for any movie, I need more proof than this sorry.

Whedon had a similar setup, albeit much smaller, for Firefly and Serenity and I was really impressed with how they did the interiors on those. This is too early to really excite, except for the possibilities.

darthstern: The 20,000 amps stats caught my eye also. Mucho juice man, mucho juice! =P

FoxForce5: I'm sorry you find it boring but most of us are not familiar with these studios. I felt like it would be cool for everyone to get a chance to check them out and get an idea of what exactly they were.

Wolverine1974: Proof of what? Grumman Studios announced yesterday that Disney Marvel Studios starts building sets next month. The film will utilize all seven stages for quite some time.

@FOXFORCE5: Well, it seems like you are bored of them like an eskimo would be bored of the immense size and beauty of the north pole. But to us that have never seen the sheer size of studios where this type of films are made, it is new and interesting. It helps ponder on the possibilities.
So "it is what it is".
