The Avengers Star Samuel L. Jackson Named "Highest-Grossing Actor Of All Time"!

The Guinness Book of World Records have revealed the "Highest-Grossing Actor Of All Time", and it's none other than the head of S.H.I.E.L.D himself, Samuel L. Jackson, aka Nick Fury...

Well, here's hoping that his streak will continue with The Avengers next year! According to the Guinness Book of World Records (via New York Daily News) the actor, who is known best for roles in movies like Pulp Fiction, the Star Wars prequels and as Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, THOR, Captain America: The First Avenger and 2012's The Avengers, is the highest grossing star of all time, beating the likes of Will Smith and Tom Cruise.

The 62-year-old star (no, I don't think he looks anywhere near that age either!) has starred in over 100 movies, ultimately raking in a whopping $7.4 billion. And he clearly has no intention of slowing down. As well as teaming up with the likes of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr next year in The Avengers, he'll also play a former con artist who decides to change his ways after a 20 year prison stint in thriller, The Samaritan.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: May 4th, 2012. (US)

Not surprising, although I must say that part of me thought Orlando Bloom would sneak his way in there based on the LOTR and Pirates trilogies.

Because though Orlando Bloom's career has been short, he's in 6 of the highest grossing movies worldwide of all time. I didn't realize they were only doing domestic. So, when I saw the number was $7.2 billion, and I knew Bloom was in at least 4 or 5 billion dollar movies, I put two and two together and thought him close. Y'all done ragging on me now? Sheesh. Domestic vs. Worldwide, folks. It makes a difference.
JackBauer

He's great in all the movies I've seen him in. The one where he and Ben Affleck get revenge on each other is great.
BackwardGalaxy
BackwardGalaxy - 10/27/2011, 1:09 PM
And if you go by boxofficemojo, Jackson's domestic is 2.8 billion. Orlando's is about 2.3 billion.
BackwardGalaxy

So suck on that.

Which begs the question... what numbers ARE Guinness using? I guess that is worldwide.
BackwardGalaxy

Actually, according to boxofficemojo, Tom Hanks wins the domestic tally. I'm officially confused.

I really have to agree with this. Samuel Jackson is one of my favorite actors. He was great in films like Pulp Fiction, The Negotiator, and A Time To Kill. I am glad he has this honor.

He's the highest grossing actor if you count all of his cameos...which are a lot. Tom Hanks is the highest grossing actor if you're just looking at regular or lead parts in a movie....and holy shit, Jackson is 62!?

I thought that him being the highest grossing actor wasn't new? I've been using that useless knowledge for quite a few years so I can seguey into talking about number 2 on the list: Frank Welker, which then allows me to talk about Transformers all day.
