The Avengers Trailer Reuses A Shot From Iron Man

The Avengers Trailer Reuses A Shot From Iron Man

There has been a bit of work done to it, but on close inspection I think it's undeniable that a shot of Iron Man from The Avengers trailer has been recycled. Have a looksee..

Is this becoming a new trend? I'm sure it probably happens more than we realize but recently Michael Bay was called out on reusing a shot from The Island in his latest Transformers movie. And now Joss Whedon seems to have been raiding John Favreau's editing suites too, but only for a trailer this time.

Here is the shot from The Avengers trailer

And one from Iron Man

They look slightly different because of some color grading and changes to the back ground but as Bleeding Cool rightly points out, check out the dust patterns and markings on the helmet and collar area. Coincidence? Not on your nelly. As if the trailer didn't have enough Iron Man they have to bring in shots from his previous movies! It's not a huge deal and chances are this shot won't even appear in teh finished film but I thought it was interesting. Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the spot.

Thanks to Lucaxmen for the Avengers banner too. And just in case by some miracle you haven't seen it yet, here is the trailer again.

I honestly think this will just be archive footage in the movie, if it's even used. They surely can't use it as a new shot considering the mark3 design can be spotted around the shoulders...which is very different from the new suit.

I would've be surprised if they used the shot to further show GAs, who are foolishly not aware The Avengers is apart of the same franchise as Iron Man.

Does it really matter?. I remeber the trailer for 'the International' and they used the same footage from 'Ghost Rider' in one bit and that wasn't used in the movie.

yeah i agree, it's not a surprise they re-used a shot, and just makes good sense. Iron Man is a very CGI-character, so why not use it? there are other original shots in the trailer (the scene out of the water? beautiful) and it works fine. if anybody would get upset over this that would be....well, strange.

So? They probably didn't have a close up shot ready yet. It won't be in the movie.

This needed a news story? I noticed this just from watching the trailer, it didn't need an entire article about it.

Yeah a bunch of us spotted this straight away yesterday.

They've just re-graded the back lighting from blue to green. As it's just a trailer I don't see a problem. (Although in the UK, tv commercials for things such as DVDs, CDs, etc are prohibited from including material in their promos which isn't actually included in the product which they are trying to sell, so technically that shot wouldn't be allowed in any TV spot).

Actually, come to think of it, I think they've used Chris Evans' same face from Fantastic Four?!

That is some front page detective work!

Line my pockets AdSense!

I personally hope they use a similar shot in the avengers. This was one of the coolest shots in Iron Man

Yeah I'm not complaining about it, just found it interesting that they didn;t have enough Iron Man as it was they had to use a shot from another movie.

No denial, the background clearly are all the same as well, just a few tweaks on the color and darkening here and there. Gotta admit that those folks on Bleeding Cool had nice eyes though (saw it some times before already anyway); didn't realize it at all at first. :P

mbomb, I edit for a living (which affords me quite a bit of time to post on here), my social life is great and I get more ass than a toilet seat. Also if you had actually read the article you would see that I didn't "look for this", Bleeding Cool found it and I aggregated the story.

Any more questions?

I think the majority of us all noticed this, but I'm wondering how on earth something so trivial as this made the front page?!?!

On another note Michael Bay didn't use shots from Bad Boys in Transformers 3, I'm pretty sure he used the freeway chase in The Island.

so what, the dark knight rises teaser uses footage from batman begins.
