I thought he delivered the best performance in Thor. Totally acted circles around Hemsworth. Not to say Hemsworth was bad, but Hiddleston was just so much better in my opinion. Probably the best performance by an actor in any of the Marvel Studio films.

@Ridiculous even better than RDJ?

I think so. Robert Downy Jr. did a fantastic job as Iron Man. But I don't feel that character was that much of a stretch for him. I have a feeling that RDJ's personality is similar to how he portrays Tony Stark.

Hiddleston in my mind created a fantastic villain, and really held his own with a screen legend in Anthony Hopkins. I do think Hopkins phoned in his performance a little bit, but nowhere near as bad as Jack Nicholson did in Batman 89. Hiddleston delivered everyone of his lines brilliantly, and thought he was just subtle enough in the beginning of Thor that anybody who wasn't familiar with the character would be surprised that he turned on his brother. It was a brilliant performance in my opinion.

Hiddleston was amazing. The way Loki was writen and the way Hiiddles portrayed him made us actually feel sympathy for Loki and actually root for him. And it sounds like we are going to get a continuation of that now that Loki is full-on badass villain.

Hopkins was good as Odin, but he really didn't to much that much so I can't harp on it too much. And Jack Nicholson totally phoned it in as Joker, I agree. Playing himself to score a paycheck(a paycheck that was bigger than the films actual budget).

lol the problem I had with Jack Nicholson is it seemed like he felt he was bigger than the character. It should have been Jack Nicholson playing the Joker, not the Joker as played by Jack Nicholson. Plus I felt he was past his prime at 51 to play a character like that. Jack Nicholson in the late 60's or early 70's would have done a much better job.

what's the point of seeing the movie if we now know that the villain's gonna make it out of there alive like in any saturday morning cartoon? i'm just asking.

@ Ridiculous - Got to agree with your Hiddleston/RDJ thinking. RDJ is fantastic as Stark but it's barely acting. Too many actors/actresses win praise for acting as themselves. This is how you end up with Keira Knightly winning an Oscar! RDJ is different as he CAN act too, but Stark was just him being himself while Hiddleston became a different person.

@batfan

If all you go to movies for is to know what happens then you can save your money and I can just tell you what happens in every movie from now on.

But for the rest of us I think there is much more to a movie than to find out what happens.

Helmsworth and Tiddleston both did extremely well in their parts as Thor and Loki, they are Loki and Thor! Both are new comers and they shined in this film, I don't think one was better than the other.... So shhhut up!

Yeah. I think Hiddleston as Loki is definitely one of, if not the best Marvel villain we've seen on screen. I think both he and Hopkins acted the hell out of Thor. I love Loki, and as much as I love the Avengers and cheer for them I'm secretly cheering for Loki as well.

Yeah Hemsworth did a phenomenal Job as Thor too. He and Hiddleston were DEAD ON to their characters.

I think what made Thor so cool to me that it was an Origin film for both Loki and Thor. Cant wait for the sequel and of course see these brothers duke it out in the Avengers!!

Yeah, Hiddleston and Jeff Bridges.

They are the best villain actor performance

- so far.
"

In the Marvel films, that is to say.

If all comicbook movies; then Heath Ledger is added, perhaps Jack Nicholson also.

But sorry to say not the high caliber actors, Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey - as Luthor.

Imo.

Tom Hiddleston - pure acting ability....the whole scene with Odin and the line he delivered "TELL ME....!!!!!!!" was amazing.

Mickey Rourke - character study....acting in IM2 was a little cheesy, no matter how much was cut his character still fell short from being a well rounded villain.

Heath Ledger - character study and pure acting ability....THE JOKER...nuff said.

I'd add
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon
Mickey Rourke as Marv
Michael Fassbender as Magneto

@BreakUBman

I considered adding Oldman, but my immense hatred for Gordon didn't allow me to do it lol

Yeah I forgot about Fassbender. He's the main reason why I actually enjoyed First Class

@Batfan

Did you really ever watch SUPERMAN and think LEX LUTHOR was gonna die?

Did you really ever watch BATMAN and think the JOKER was gonna die?

Your trying to make a point where there is none. The movie is about the journey, the struggle, and the eventual triumph. It's about watching a bunch of alpha dogs put their bullsh!t aside and take orders for the greater good. In the trailers, RDJ had an amazing line that i think sums up the enitre movie. He said, "Maybe we weren't able to protect the earth, but we d@mn sure can AVENGE it!"

So there is your answer ;)

alright, i think Hiddleston is [frick]ing awesome. But I have to wonder, is he the disgnated interview guy for this movie or is he the only one who will talk too the press. Because it seems like there are 10 Hiddleston interviews for every 1 by anyone else in the cast.

not complaining just think it is odd
