Tom Hiddleston Says Loki Is A "Wounded Soul" In THE AVENGERS

If you kind of understood where Loki was coming from in Kenneth Branagh's Thor, prepare to see a much more unsympathetic side to him in The Avengers as Hiddleston says we are in for a much more dangerous villain..

Thor 2 may be in trouble but we know for certain that we will see Loki again in Joss Whedon's The Avengers next year. And while Loki was a somewhat sympathetic villain in the first Thor, while speaking to The Playlist at the premier for War Horse the actor suggests that the next time we meet The God Of Mischief he will be much more classically "evil". Although Hiddleston also hints that he will hold on to some semblance of the traits that made him such a compelling villain in the first place..

"Working with [director] Ken [Branagh on 'Thor'], it was Loki's origin story as much as Thor's origin story, so he was asking for an emotional volatility, a vulnerability, and a spiritual complexity. With [director] Joss [Whedon on 'The Avengers'], he wants to take both of these characters further down the road and set them off, so he wanted a Loki who was feral and dangerous and having a really good time. Someone who overtly and openly delights in the chaos he creates, as opposed to being kind of incidental and accidental, while never losing sight that the birth of his traits comes from loneliness and spiritual desolation. He has nowhere to call home, no place he belongs, so he's a wounded soul, Loki."

A "feral and dangerous" Loki is definitely something worth waiting for. I'm looking forward to seeing him go one on one with every member of The Avengers as Hiddleston has teased in the past. You can see pics from the War Horse premier and interviews with the rest of the stars -including Toby Kebbel who recently auditioned for Akira and Arthur And Lancelot - by clicking the link below.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, and is directed by Joss Whedon. The movie will be released May 4, 2012.
