Speaking with Marvel President of Production, Kevin Fiege, Kofi Outlaw of screenrant may have cracked the code of what the ultimate plan for The Avengers 3 will be.
Joss Whedon's subtitle hint to Thanos at the end of The Avengers may have meant more to the bigger picture of all of the Phases for the MCU.
Whedon first stated in an interview five months ago, that
“Well, Thanos is more powerful. He is so powerful he is not someone you can just try out and punch him. Like he did in the comics, you want him threading through the universe and to save the big finale for the big finale. He is definitely a part of what I have got going on.
The thing about The Avengers is that they are very powerful but not very stable. So, there will definitely be some people that will shake them up in the next installment.”
Those
people Whedon speaks of are Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, as well as the evil robot ULTRON. Overseeing it all will be THANOS, as quoted by Whedon himself:
“We have to stay grounded. It’s part of what makes the Marvel universe click – their relationship to the real world. It’s science-fiction, and Thanos is not out of the mix, but Thanos was never meant to be the next villain. He’s always been the overlord of villainy & darkness.”
With Thanos' involvement in
Guardians of the Galaxy, as stated by Fiege:
Certainly you'll get more than one turn-around-and-smirk. You'll get much more than that., it seems that all things point to his greater plan, until Guardians is released, we won't know exactly what that plan IS exactly but...
Let's also not rule out the Cameo by
SPOILER:The Collector (highlight to see) in the post credits scene in
Thor: The Dark World
In an interview posted over at ScreenRant, Kofi makes a powerful point to get some sort of answer out of Mr. Fiege and it's hint may give you a clear idea as to what the overall plan is.. or maybe not.. you can decide.
“Well, I don’t know that I would spell it out that clearly, necessarily, but certainly fans of the comics could surmise that all of this is leading somewhere. That Joss’ decision to have Thanos turn around and smile for the audience at the end of ‘Avengers’, our reveal, was always the plan.”
UPDATE: It seems like, this was indeed the plan all along! (highlight to see
major spoilers)
