Marvel has confirmed they will team with Ubisoft Quebec to work on Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth on the Xbox 360 and Nintento Wii. The video game will be released this fall and is apparently inspired by iconic Marvel comic artwork as well as Secret Invasion by Brian Michael Bendis and Lenil Francis Yu (rather than the recent film adaptation). It will feature 20 characters including Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and a selection of other heroes and villains. "We are excited to team up with Marvel Entertainment to bring some of the most iconic comic book characters from the Marvel line-up to life in motion-gaming," said Tony Key, US senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "Fans of the Marvel universe and superhero games are going to love the extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled moves and competitive gameplay."

Andreea Enache-Thune, senior vice president of games and digital distribution at Marvel, adds, "For the last few years, Marvel has positioned itself to deliver the absolute best in entertainment, be it in film, animation, comics or games. Partnering with Ubisoft is a big part of that ongoing movement. We are confident that Ubisoft’s talent matches Marvel’s own commitment to making the "Avengers: Battle for Earth" the best in the motion-controlled gaming category." What do you guys think? So they've really thrown away the opportunity of having time on giving us a real good movie tie-in game. I'm really pissed off.

Cause I can't believe a Kinect game would really be anything close to the games I like.

Motion Control game? Screw that i'm lazy! Naw i'm sure with the Wii Motion Plus it will be a lot better than MAU1 was for the Wii (that was a train wreck) but this is excellent news! I know the WiiU is going to have a Marvel Super Heroes launch title as well, wonder if this is what it's going to be and the Wii was just a typo

Yea, that's garbage. First, and most importantly -- Why no ps3?! Its a better system all around..

Secondly, why the hell is it motion controlled?? If you're gonna commit to the motion, than it better be the best controls you can do. And I already know that sony has the technically superior motion controllers and technically superior console...

Just when you thought Marvel could do no wrrong.. callin it now, the controls AND graphics for this will probably blow..

I would rather see some EPIC ANIMEMATED DVD RELEASE with AOA, CIVIL WAR, OR hell maybe even the Annihilation Series. That would be a step up for MARVELS ANIMATED DVD PROJECTS.

No PS3? Motion control? Fail.

Why, why, why Marvel? Ultimate Alliance 3, upgraded for the 21st century. Arkham City Marvel style. Marvel Online ala DCUO/City of Heroes/Champions. Infamous/Prototype with a Marvel character (instead of those shitty movie tie-ins)...

So many - obvious - options which would work brilliantly, before even starting to think outside the box, that to hit on one so bad randomly doesn't seem possible.

What are you doing guys? Sort it out.

Seriously? How are they going to pull off a decent story with motion control? You'll probably spend more time trying to figure out the mechanics than the story.

Nuts. I was hoping for a real console game. this is a pass for me. and in my view? a huge missed opportunity for Marvel.
