Marvel Studios is taking its time assembling the Young Avengers and, by the time we finally see them on screen...well, they won't be that young! There's nothing to say they need to use that team name, of course, and we're expecting them to simply be the next iteration of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania's Kathryn Newton recently shared a TikTok suggesting they'll soon share the screen, leading to renewed speculation about a future Young Avengers project.
Well, one reliable scooper has since chimed in to name the heroes they believe will be part of the team. However, they add, "Tommy [Maximoff] WILL come back, but Marvel doesn’t seem to have any interest in pursuing anything Elijah Bradley related, unfortunately."
That's a strange decision considering the fact Eli was part of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Played by up-and-comer Elijah Richardson, the stage was set for him to become a superhero after we met his grandfather, Isaiah (the original "Captain America").
For whatever reason, Marvel Studios has changed course and shelved the character.
As for Tommy, it's hard to say when or where the Scarlet Witch and Vision's other son will appear but we don't anticipate it being in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. Instead, that series will focus on Billy as he returns to the land of the living and becomes the MCU's Wiccan.
With rumours swirling that Marvel Studios plans to reboot the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars, it's hard to say what will become of these legacy heroes. Will there be room for Ironheart if Iron Man returns?
The Young Avengers were created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung and debuted in 2005. The comic book version of the team features numerous adolescent characters who typically have connections to established members of Marvel's primary superhero team, The Avengers.
Following the events of the "Avengers Disassembled" storyline, the four founding members of the team gathered as a result of the Vision plan for the reformation of the Avengers in the event the team disbanded. In the series, newspapers refer to the young heroes as "super-powered fanboys" and label them the "Young Avengers," a name the team members initially dislike but which nonetheless sticks.
Are you excited to see them assemble in the MCU?
