Well, that big announcement is definitely true! Anne Hathaway will play Catwoman and Tom Hardy has been cast as Bane in the new Batman movie!

PRESS RELEASE:

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Christopher Nolan stated, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."




In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies." Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. The Dark Knight Rises is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company

I REALLY HOPE THIS IS NOT TRUE! i can work with bane but not catwoman! didnt they see how bad the last one did? i trust nolan but i was really pump with the prey story arc! but this just has me scratching my head, but hey i love to be surprised!

well I think eva green would have been a better choice for catwoman, and I am happy that it's Bane finally we get to see a proper take on him, he's not going to be used as some minor goon. LA times are hardly ever wrong and it is straight from nolan so finally all this BS villain rumours can stop now

It's totally official. It's even on Batman on Film. I'm very curious about how Nolan is going to approach Bane, but Hardy will no doubt be great.

I'm unsure about Hathaway as Catwoman, but I didn't really believe Ledger or Oldman were right for their characters either until pics were released - and in both cases it looked more like the character than the actor.

Bane is a perfect way to end the series and I've been hoping for him in Nolans series . He was butchered in B&R.

Kinda bummed since hes not Latino, tho. I think the new interpenetration is gonna be that Bane is a new ruthless vigilante like Bats and he wants prove himself, like in the comics, by defeating bats.
