As we first reported on Toonado.com, Batman: Knightfall Part 2: Knightquest now has a confirmed release date. Warner Bros. Entertainment has just announced that the sequel arrives on Digital and 4K Ultra HD on December 15.

This news has been accompanied by a brief clip from the movie, featuring the aftermath of Batman's battle with Bane and a tease that the grievously injured Bruce Wayne is moments away from being unmasked.

An extended clip has also been released, showing Nightwing in action as he steps up to protect Gotham City in his mentor's absence. Of course, comic book fans will know that Azrael is waiting in the wings, and a new featurette explores how Jean-Paul Valley has been adapted for animation.

Here's the synopsis for Batman: Knightfall Part 2: Knightquest:

Batman lies broken at the hands of the villainous mastermind Bane. With Bruce Wayne paralyzed from the waist down and unable to continue as Batman, a new successor must be chosen to defend Gotham City. Jean-Paul Valley, the man also known as Azrael, must take up the mantle of the Batman. But will his more violent methods be enough to stop Bane?

When we caught up with Batman: Knightfall supervising producer Rick Morales to discuss the first movie, we asked what he could tease about the upcoming sequels.

"I think I hope, if you're a fan of Jean Paul Valley, that you'll be very happy with the next couple of films," the filmmaker shared. "And also, I think one of the things that I'm most excited for is to bring Nightwing into it in a real way."

"And, you know, one of the things that I always love, because he's one of my favourite characters in comic books ever, is Tim Drake's Robin, especially this particular period. Tim Drake," Morales continued. "And I just love their relationship, you know, that sort of older brother, younger brother sort of relationship that they have. So I think that's something we'll get into, and I'm really excited about."

I really wish they would use the animation style they used for the 2 part Watchmen animation from a bit ago. I rewatched that a few weeks ago and had totally forgotten how perfect that project was. Best WATCHMEN adaptation ever made.

@TheAmericanHero - That animation was lazy trash.

@Thebronxknight - So is the new one. The fact that ATLA Season 3 has better animation than these movies is insane

@Thebronxknight - it was a super faithful recreation of Dave Gibbons art style.

Down to his line work and bone structures, they absolutely nailed the look of the book.

Lazy?

I wonder if they’ll change how Bruce recovers as it is kinda lame in the comic.

That's too far from part 1. Part 3 isn't coming until March or April at this point.
