A new batch of stills have been released for Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 1, and the spotlight is put squarely on Jensen Ackles (who voiced Jason Todd in Under the Red Hood) as the Dark Knight and Catwoman (played by the late Naya Rivera) along with some of the movie's impressive supporting characters.

There's a huge amount of excitement surrounding this latest DC Animated feature, especially with the Supernatural alum lending his voice to Batman. "The Long Halloween" storyline is also considered a classic, so an adaptation of some sort is definitely long overdue at this stage.

Inspired by the classic story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham's young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city's only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious Falcone Crime Family.

However, when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that instead of ordinary gang violence, they're also dealing with a serial killer - the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World's Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

The movie is set to be released on June 22nd, 2021 and was written by Tim Sheridan and directed by Chris Palmer (who previously collaborated on the recent Superman: Man of Tomorrow).

Cant wait.

Just saw JSA WW2, good follow up to Man Of Tomorrow. The Kamandi short was great as well.

Although will say one thing, could have cut hour man. Seems like everyone else had well established bonds with other members but he was just kind of there

I just hope they are true to the original comics/graphic novel. Lately DC animation has been a bit hit and miss. "The Killing Joke" comes to mind.

@Mugens - I agree. Even though I already know the twist, I don't want them to change it

I'm loving this new universe of films. Much better than the New 52 one.
I love the animation style too!

Still wish that they would've at least tried to adapt the Tim Sale artwork; it's so iconic!

@Superspecialawesomeguy - and such a unique style would've worked well with an anime company or something. At least, attempt it!

The lack of Sale inspired characters worries me, but it's fine because the animation is solid and the acting is too.
Also have a feeling, since so many know the twist, they'll lean in on Gilda being the Holiday killer

I wish these DC animated films would hit some streaming service here in the UK. I am far behind but i always like the look of them.

Why didn't they stick closer to Tim Sale's art style, though? This film would have had a very unique and noirish atmosphere if they did that.

It reminds a little bit of how the Batman: Year One animated movie was ruined by clean modern animation (the city is supposed to look dirty and rundown), robotic voice acting (except for Brian Cranston), and trying too hard to play the small-scale story up as some sort of blockbuster.
