Batman Beyond, the ALMOST perfect Batman series, with everything from recurring character from the past, new stories that explored the Batman mythos even further to even crossing over with other shows like Static shock appearing and Terry appearing in The Justice League show, but now I will take a look at the one flaw that this show had that for years drove me crazy, even as a kid I knew it was WRONG.
It does not matter if you watched it as a kid, as a teen, as an adult, most people who watched this show liked it alot it was a fresh air for the animated world of Batman & Superheroes in general, the show managed to not only become a cult classic with us Comic fans but with the Filthy Casuals too, all around this is part of mainstream, hell even comedy loving Marvel fans agree it's great. Now, what's the big deal that has made DCGuy Tourture you with another badly written, poor grammar using and all around editorial?...THIS...
WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK, ARE YOU FRICKING ME? JUST FRICKING BEND ME OVER AND CALL ME STAN LEE, IF YOU'RE GONNA FRICK WITH ME LIKE THIS!
How dare they not only plant but make it canon in this world for Bruce & Barbara to be together? THE HELL!?
Ok...ok I'm calm, let's take a look at 3 HUGE reasons why this is Bullsh!t Bad.
1.Anyone that knows/reads Batman comics and see's the relationship that Bruce has with Dick would never even imagine Bruce being such a bastard that he would betray Dick, yes they fight, yes they don't talk, yes they have become almost enemies but still at the end of the day Bruce loves dic....Grayson. Bruce would never hurt him, even recently in the comics it has been shown again that Bruce would rather lie to protect them (the bat family) than hurt them with the actual truth, now this may raise as flag and say well Batman's a liar, but you can't really blame Batman for now lying about how Joker knows who they are and compare it to Batman porking Barbara.
2.Bruce see's all members of the Batfamily as that, FAMILY, Dick is like his son, even showing Grayson more care, more love and more all around relationshipn than with his own son, Batman has taken to each member of the bat family even Ace! Barbara is like a daugther to him, yes he treates her a little rough but that's because Batman is also the other father to her, Barbara has Gordon, who some times knows and other doesn't know that she's batgirl but still Gordon is a great father, loving and caring and understanding, while Bruce takes the other side of the coin as the rough father who takes no crap and want's it all perfect, bottom line. Bruce & Babs? = Father/Daugther relationship.
3.Playboy but not stupid boy, Bruce has the reputation of a pimp, sleeping with everyone from Lois lane, to Vicki Vale, Talia Al Ghul, Selina Kyle and everyone in between, BUT the main reason Bruce sleeps around is to A. keep his reputation/ social life up and people again not suspect him to be Batman B.He can't get attached. now the second one may be choice or smart thinking, but still. It's a big reason for Bruce to never get fully attached to someone. Let alone one of his closest allies.
BONUS REASON!...Bruce ain't a Pedo bear, that age gap is a bigger hole, than the massive empty black hole like void that covers movie theaters every time a Disney's Marvel comedy force joked is told on screen.
And there you have it, the only flaw with Batman Beyond the show, the destruction of the relationship of the Bat family, I get that this was a big point in the driving force between the Batman/Nightwing feud, that it just a ploy to sell that Bruce & Dick really butted heads that it really was Batman's biggest loss, losing his son, his friend his pupil, Batman in a part lost half of himself with Dick gone, but this was a little too much,if theres ever a Batman Beyond movie, I hope this little part gets retconned, in the Batman beyond Comic, Dick comes back and Bruce really tries hard to fix things so theirs still hope.
