SYNOPSISThe groundbreaking all-new CGI animated series returns. Batman, Alfred and swordstress Katana are back to take on the underworld likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a "Batman show."

Back in February, the first 13 episodes of the controversial TV series were released in a Season 1 Part 1 collection. We know have confirmation the remaining 13 episodes of the show's first 26 episode season will be released on September 30, in a DVD and Blu-Ray collection called Beware The Batman Season 1 Part 2-Dark Justice. This reveal comes just ahead of next month's debut of new episodes, which will air on Cartoon Network's "Toonami" block. While we don't have the specifics, such as special features and subtitles, we know that the DVD will be a 2-disc set and is expected to cost $19.97. While we don't have these details for the Blu-Ray yet, I imagine it will be a 1-disc set and that it will be slightly more expensive. Season 1 should be nearing it's completion on the air by the time Season 1 Part 2 arrives.

Episodes collected (# of episode in season):
14. "Darkness"
15. "Reckoning"
16. "Nexus"
17. "Monsters"
18. "Games"
19. "Animal"
20. "Doppelganger"
21. "Unique"
22. "Hero"
23. "Choices"
24. "Epitaph"
25. "Twist"
26. "Alone"

Stills:

From what I know from episode descriptions and stills, the second half of the season will continue to introduce lesser known villians, such as The Key and Matatoa, into the series but it will also bring in a roster of A-list villains including Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Two-Face, Ra's Al Ghul, and Man-Bat. For those wondering, the man on the "Wanted" sign in one of the above stills is indeed The Penguin (though I am unsure whether he will make a physical appearance in this season). The Golden Age hero known as Manhunter will debut as a guest star and so will the Outsiders. For the first time in the show, there will be a super-villain team-up episode. Every villain that Batman had captured in the first half of the season will team-up in that episode(with the exception of Simon Stagg, Junkyard Dog, Doodlebug and Lunkhead). More specifically: Professor Pyg, Mr. Toad, Magpie, Cypher, Tobias Whale and Phospherous Rex will team-up.

Despite previous reports that the new episodes would begin airing July 27, TV.com and EP Guides are claiming that the first of the unaired episodes (Season 1 Episode 12 "Fall") will actually air Saturday night, July 19 at 3 am EST.

When did this show get good villains?

@OneBadDay
Ra's Al Ghul is the first. He made a cameo in a previously released episode called "Sacrifice" (Season 1 Episode 10) as a mummified corpse. He made his first full/alive appearance in "Fall" (Season 1 Episode 13) which hasn't aired yet but is available on BTB Season 1 Part 1. The episodes that come after that will introduce other iconic villains.

Netflix should pick up this show for a second season just like they did with Star Wars:The Clone Wars.

This show just wasn't very good. Deathstroke was one of the few highlights. I want a new batman cartoon.

I wonder if there will be at a later date a version that comes with the whole season. Also not to go off topic too much it deals with Batman so it should be fine. But why is Batman the animated series not on Blu Ray? I could go on about Static Shock too. But it's not Batman so I'll just stick with BTAS.

As for this show other then being made in CG instead of the traditional hand drawn style. It was an okay show. I looked at it more of a multiverse show then the real Batman. So when you stop comparing it to other things the show was enjoyable.

@BlackIceJoe
I know what you mean. The reason this comes to Blu-Ray and not Batman TAS and Static Shock is because there wasn't Blu-Ray when they were popular and on the air. There is now, so newer shows come straight to Blu-Ray. Even shows from the mid-2000s usually get Blu-Ray releases before the really great shows from the 90s. That's why Spectacular Spiderman has gotten a Blu-Ray complete set, while Spiderman: The Animated Series still hasn't even gotten a proper DVD release yet. I don't know if studios forgot about them or they think we did. Hopefully Batman TAS, Spiderman TAS, Static Shock, ETC get Blu-Ray releases soon.

They'll probably release some of those to promote Bruce Timm's animated project he is working on right now.

Haven't seen these episodes yet...why does Deathstroke have an eye on his black side?
The whole point of the dark half of mask is due to his missing eye.
He lets all know that he's going to kick/kill your ass with only one eye.

@sameoldthing
From what I understand, Deathstroke will lose his eye in the finale.

I wonder... is the bandaged man Hush, Harvey Dent (like in the Dark Knight Returns) or someone new?

@staypuffed
That's Two-Face. And, yes, his design does appear to be Dark Knight Returns based.

i thought this show was trying to steer clear of the more well known batman villains.

@marvel72
They said they weren't going to use any of the well known villains at first so they could have a fresher take on a Batman cartoon (which is probably why the show is CGI). When they said "at first," most people (including myself) just assumed they meant until at least season 2. It appears they actually meant the second half of season 1.
