Warner Bros. are being careful not to make too big of a deal out of how well The Dark Knight Rises has performed financially as a sign of respect for those affected by the Aurora shootings. However, the film has broken both domestic and worldwide IMAX records over the weekend according to The Hollywood Reporter. Domestically, the film earned $19 million from 332 screens, for an average of £57,200 per screen. It made an additional $4.8 million from 64 of the screens internationally ($75,000 per screen average), making a worldwide total of $23.8 million in 396 IMAX theatres ($60,100 per screen average). Internationally, it made the most in the UK with $1.57 million on 19 screens. With another 89 theatres set to start showing the film next weekend (including China), expect even more records to be broken by Christopher Nolan's epic finale. Meanwhile, it has also been revealed (via Variety) that Warner Bros. are planning to make a "substantial" donation through Colorado's Community First Foundation, which will then disperse the sum among the victims of the shooting. Be sure to read my 5* review of The Dark Knight Rises by clicking HERE.

But I truly feel that we should fall back about the Aurora shootings...The sick bastard gets what he wants and its attention every time we mention it and discuss...I keep my prayers for the victims and their families but we need to put it to a rest

I saw TDKR in IMAX earlier this afternoon at the Edwards in Ontario Mills. The size of that screen is ridiculous. Some of those aerial pans over 'Gotham' made it seem like I was falling through the sky.

Just make sure to sit towards the back / top of the theater. Even the middle rows are too close.

Honestly it should have broken those records. It was the largest IMAX release of all time. And in saying that I mean it had a substantial amount more IMAX showings per day over that weekend than any other film ever. So if it didn't break that record I would have been shocked & it would have been a huge letdown for WB.

This shouldn't come as a surprise being it played in a record amount of IMAX theaters.

heavykilluminati@ You're being as much of a troll starting out this thread that way, if not more so because you started it before anyone else posted anything and it is irrelevant to the article.
