The Batman: Part II Set Photos Reveal New Look At The Batsuit And An Intriguing Batmobile Change

The latest photos and footage from The Batman Part II reveal an intriguing change to the Batmobile, and our first glimpse at stuntman Rick English wearing the sequel's updated Batsuit.

The Batman Part II resumed filming in Glasgow, Scotland, last night, and we now have our first look at stuntman Rick English in the Batsuit. Not much appears to have changed, but this is hopefully a precursor to much better shots in the weeks ahead.

Fans also spotted an interesting addition to the Batmobile, with tyres now attached to the front of the iconic vehicle. Some believe that there's a story reason for this, but the more likely possibility is that they're there to protect the vehicle for a stunt that requires a collision.

As a reminder, English was previously spotted preparing for an action sequence showing Batman riding atop a police car and attempting to smash his way in. Clearly, the Caped Crusader is being targeted by the GCPD in Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel.

Unsurprisingly, story details for The Batman Part II are being kept under wraps. It's been confirmed that the movie takes place in winter, which initially led to speculation that Reeves is planning a grounded take on Mr. Freeze.

However, based on reporting from the trades and other reliable sources, the spotlight could be put on the Dent family: Harvey, his wife, Gilda, and the District Attorney's father, Christopher. Two-Face, Hush, the Halloween Killer, and Phantasm are said to be in the mix for the sequel's potential costumed villains, as are the Court of Owls.

There have also been rumblings that Sebastian Stan is playing Victor Zsasz, so we're ultimately still in the dark about plans for The Batman Part II.

Stan previously said that the movie will be "a challenge, like everything else. I feel like it’s a really ambitious movie and I think if we do it all right — and obviously I’m so excited about Matt Reeves [directing] because he’s been one of my favourites for a long, long time."

"I really think it’s going to blow people away. It’s going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too," he continued. "Obviously there’s a reason why Batman’s been recurring for so many years, and why so many kids love Spider-Man."

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script by him and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman Part II stars Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry.

The Batman Part II is set to be released in theaters on February 18, 2028.

Two Face, Hush, Zsasz, Phantasm, Ivy, Court of Owls, probably another Joker spot from Koeghan. Are we getting an Arkham story or a bloated movie? Probably neither 😂

@FrankenDad - I've been saying since I was a teenager that they should open a Batman movie with him and Robin fighting a montage of villains. I'm so jealous Spider-Man fans actually got that lol

@FrankenDad - I’d love a loose adaptation of the first Arkham game. As a side note, I was really hoping they’d update the outfit to look more comic accurate and ditch the S&M line on his mask but I guess not.

@SeeYouIn2036 - It’s a great idea if Gunn actually gets his Brave and the Bold made. If you’re starting with an older Batman who has a son you want to show fans that history first with this version. A montage of him fighting his most popular villains (maybe hide some faces until the actor the want is cast) would make the character feel “lived in” and help sell the history we will mostly never see. Then introducing Damian doesn't feel as rushed as it actually is

@Bucky74 - If he's twenty years in, I'd love to see the whole history. Start with purple glove noir Batman, jump to campy golden age with Grayson, the formation of the JLA, then Killing Joke, then Death in the Family, Tim's introduction, show the shot of Bane breaking his back, Jason's return, Damian's premiere, spotlighting the different suits and villains along the way.

We're literally never going to get to see the history play out on screen in any format, so might as well at the very least give us the highlights reel.

@SeeYouIn2036 - I can imagine a scene where Batman appears for the first time and, after fighting a group of gangsters, he flies away with their boss. Here, Batman has his most classic look.

After this scene, we see the sequence you describe.

@SeeYouIn2036 - Agreed. That was one of my problems with Batman Vs Superman. We had a Dark Knight fighting Superman before we’ve seen him take on any of his actual villains.

@Bucky74 - Brave and Bold is never happening...there are just as good of odds as you being cast as the Paramount Batman as there are of Paramount allowing Batman to be handled by Gunn and it be an old Batman...will never happen.

@jst5 - I shall respect the role and do my best to bring my take on the Dark Knight to life, lol. You’re probably right

@Bucky74 - I'm no Gunn fan at all...he's a one trick pony and is awful at what he's suppose to be doing with the DCU.However even if I was a Gunn fan I'd still be saying there was no way Paramount is going to allow Gunn to do what he wants to do with Batman....that's just next level stupid as a company taking over to let that happen.

Yes, the TIRES are there to lessen an impact. I have a friend who did auto work for films. He worked on stuff like "The Fast And The Furious" movies and also did a lot of work on "Death Proof" he even gave me a crew hat!

The only DC product that actually matters. Great job Gunn, your entire universe is being overshadowed by an "else-world" movie.

What makes you say that? Reeves is a producer on Clayface, James has shown nothing but support for Reeves even telling fans to chill out with him taking his time on the script.

Still can’t believe this is coming out 6 years after the first one. The original was not worth a 6 year wait for a sequel. If they’re waiting until this comes out to give us the DCU Batman, move me into the Fire Gunn column.

Can we get a batman that is a legit fighter, martial artist etc. Batfleck was the best interpretation so far and we barely got to have that, so disappointing. With that being said i really liked the first movie and I hope the second one is even better but I really hope to see some growth in both detective work/smarts and fighting skills.

I'm a huge DC fan but I am so over Batman at the moment. There's been so much Batman since '89 with movies, animation, and gaming. I don't understand why you guys bitch so much about having him NOW in the DCU.

On top of that, this movie? The first was a lame imitation of the Bale films. And 6 years later?! Over it.

@SummersEssex - The whole suit is a massive turd....I get this is a year 2 Batman and the Batman 2 only moves ahead a few months in the timeline but come on man that suit I can't take it serious.

Bruce is going crazy with the donuts in this film, every batmobile leak seems to have it spinning.

There's also pictures of a seriously beat up batmobile, so we might be getting an upgraded car late in the movie or maybe it's broken here and he gets an upgrade in Part 3.

I don’t like Batman driving a tank.

Bruce be auditioning for Fast & Furious with those donuts he keeps doing lol.

Also , the tires on the front are interesting and could just be protective padding for a stunt like a collision but it feels too improvised thus I could see it being an addition that Bruce made for maybe extra protection in universe or just having spares in case he gets a flat or they get stolen by a wayward street kid…;).

It's impossible to me that it was a thought in your head that they were going to throw a row of tires on the front of the Batmobile. The amount of camera time the car had rivaled some of the actors and you think they're going to trash the car by putting tires of the front??? Clearly this is for filming only.
