Joker director Todd Philips has announced that the first trailer for his mysterious standalone film will be with us tomorrow, and he's also debuted a poster featuring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime.

Here, Joker can be seen sporting the full-on clown makeup which hasn't proved to be a popular aesthetic choice for some fans of character. He also appears to have some splatters of blood on his face, which obviously suggests that he's been engaging in one of the iconic Batman villain's favorite pastimes.

Though specific plot details remain under wraps, we've been able to piece together a few things from the plethora of set photos that have found their way online. Speculation aside, though, it looks like the the film will indeed take influence from Alan Moore's The Killing Joke in its re-imagining of iconic DC villain as a failed stand-up comedian who has "one bad day" that pushes him over the edge.

Joker also stars Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro and Marc Maron, and is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2019. What do you guys hope to see from the first trailer? Drop us a comment down below.

@Tcb97 - trailer needs to get people interested in the film. I know there are some on here that are 110% on board with this film and calling it a probable masterpiece because Joaquin is in it, but the rest of us need something more. This trailer needs to show why we need this movie and should care about this take on an iconic character.

@Tcb97 - Todd Phillips' first film was a documentary about a guy that gave so few f's he basically was the real life joker. If Todd Phillips returns to that well to do a fictional character study, I am in no questions asked.

@DnA

Yea....there was a fanmade poster of him in that office smoking a cigarette that I thought looked really great.

This one’s okay. I’m just dying to see the tone of this movie and Joaquin’s portrayal of Arthur. Hope the teaser is fire 🔥

I feel like this film wont have a middle-ground. It'll either be phenomenal or bad.
