Joker director Todd Philips
has announced that the first trailer for his mysterious standalone film will be with us tomorrow, and he's also debuted a poster featuring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime.
Here, Joker can be seen sporting the full-on clown makeup which hasn't proved to be a popular aesthetic choice for some fans of character. He also appears to have some splatters of blood on his face, which obviously suggests that he's been engaging in one of the iconic Batman villain's favorite pastimes.
Though specific plot details remain under wraps, we've been able to piece together a few things from the plethora of set photos that have found their way online. Speculation aside, though, it looks like the the film will indeed take influence from Alan Moore's
The Killing Joke in its re-imagining of iconic DC villain as a failed stand-up comedian who has "one bad day" that pushes him over the edge.
Joker also stars Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro and Marc Maron, and is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2019. What do you guys hope to see from the first trailer? Drop us a comment down below.
