JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX - When Will We Get A First Look At Lady Gaga As Harley Quinn?

Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips recently shared a first look at Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck in the sequel, but when are we going to see Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn? The filmmaker has an update!

As exciting as it was to recently get a first look at Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux, it's Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn we're most intrigued to see.

While we don't anticipate the singer's take on the beloved character being quite as colourful as the phenomenal piece of fan art below, Joker's take on the Clown Prince of Crime (once he'd "suited up") was awesome. Needless to say, this world's Harley is probably going to be just as striking, and delightfully twisted, to boot.

Unfortunately, any sort of sneak peek will need to wait.

Answering fan questions on Instagram, director Todd Phillips confirmed that Lady Gaga "does not start with us until after the new year. So it's gonna be a bit." With any luck, this means the filmmaker plans on sharing a shot of Harley shortly after the acclaimed singer and actress arrives on set.

Joker: Folie à Deux is still the only DC movie to have received the green light in the Warner Bros. Discovery era, with it pre-dating the formation of DC Studios.

In fact, it's the only movie based on a DC Comics character currently heading our way in 2024. However, the expectation from the start has been that this and The Batman franchise would remain separate from what we see in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU, though the former has suggested they have some input.

Back in 2019, Joker became the first R-Rated movie to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It also earned 12 Oscar nominations, so don't bank on Phillips suddenly changing tact and embracing the comics here. That's not a bad thing, of course, as the first chapter was a great movie that delivered a refreshing take on the Clown Prince of Crime.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in theaters on October 4, 2024, exactly five years after Joker debuted.

cohesive universe, lol.

creative oversight... sure. Gunn/Safran are currently running everything by Zaslav, nothing is determined until Zaslav gives the go-ahead, yet a film green-lit by Mike DeLuca is in principal photography with a release date cutting into DC Studios' 2024 slate.

If this film is going to be a musical then i will not be supporting it. It is bad enough that it is not connected to anything, but to now change the tone creatively by adding musical perfornmances to the film...

@Forthas - Why does everything have to be connected? So you get the same generic movie over and over? That’s what the MCU does.

I will never understand why the first one is as popular as it is, I am however 100% for the meltdowns peoples are having about the potential of the second being a musical.

@Twenty23Three - This was supposed to be the anti-franchise movie, now it's got a musical sequel with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn! Lol, you can't make this stuff up.
