This isn't the first time we've seen Joaquin Phoenix suited up as a clown on the set of Joker but these new photos may shed even more light on how this version of the Clown Prince of Crime's origin story will play out. Looking at these images, it's clear where Arthur Fleck gets the inspiration for his makeup and hair from and it may stem from being humiliated doing a job holding a "SALE" sign on the street.

That's a far cry from his aspirations to become a stand up comic and it's no doubt going to play a huge role in pushing him over the edge and transforming him into one of Gotham City's worst nightmares.

With shooting still underway in New York City, it remains to be seen how much longer we'll have to wait until we get more than just some promo shots from director Todd Phillips on Instagram. What do you guys think of this new look at Phoenix as The Joker? Weigh in with your thoughts down below.
