JOKER Origin Film News Has Jared Leto Just As Confused As The DCEU Fans

Who knew Jared Leto was a big Destiny fan? Speaking at a launch event for Bungie's Destiny 2, Leto was asked if the recent reports that both a Joker origin movie (that might star Leonardo DiCaprio) and  a Harley Quinn/Joker spinoff film were being developed simultaneously. This news has the interviewer confused but it seems she's not the only one.

Leto commented, "Yeah, I think so [that they're both being developed]. I’m a little confused too.
Yeah, there are a couple of things happening in the DC world."

Leto then provided some additional remarks which would refute previous reports that he was unhappy with WB letting another actor play Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime. "
I love the Joker. He’s a great character and really fun character to play. But it’s a big universe and when you play the Joker, there’s no ownership there. You have the honor of holding the baton for a little while and then passing it off. There are other films that are in development and I’m excited to see what comes from them."

What do you think of WB's decision to produce DC superhero films that exist outside of their cinematic universe? Are they setting up a multiverse or simply looking to free themselves from the restrictive confines that are inherent to a shared cinematic continuity?

I hate him as Joker but at the same time the studio did him wrong!

@Forthas - He could have been a great Joker. Just need a good Director to get that performance and keep him in check.

@Ayush - I am sure he has the talent to be a good Joker, but I think the characterization is now unsalvageable. It is a totally different character to the Joker except for the green hair and white skin.
