Appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman last night, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was asked by the host why exactly he won't be returning as Batman in Zack Snyder's untitled Man of Steel follow-up which will feature a team-up - or perhaps even a fight - between The Dark Knight and Superman. "Well, I think these new movies aren’t necessarily...I don’t know first of all. I haven’t read any of the new movies. I’m not involved in them at all. But I don’t know if they are so much a continuation of the Christopher Nolan Batman. I don’t think they’re really very connected. At least, I don’t...I actually don’t know," he explained before going on to express why he thought it was the right decision to have his character take up the mantle in the closing minutes of The Dark Knight Rises As for how he feels about "Batfleck", Levitt added: "I think he’s going to be really good."
