Michael Keaton Covers EW; Comments On Christopher Nolan's BATMAN Movies & Ben Affleck

The original (and some would say best) big-screen Batman appears on the cover of the next issue of Entertainment Weekly to promote the critically acclaimed Birdman. The actor also has some interesting things to say to the mag about the modern incarnations of the Caped Crusader.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu's Birdman tells the story of Riggan Thomson, a veteran actor who became famous for playing a big-screen superhero, but grew tired of the Hollywood system and decided to walk away for it all. Who better to play the role than Michael Keaton then right? Well, in an interview with EW, the actor admits that his experiences playing Batman and subsequent decision to leave the role behind didn't actually influence his performance in any way. "The truth is that I was playing a person, just a person. And I was both as connected to Riggan and as disconnected from him as you can possibly be. And I have to tell the truth about that.” Something else Keaton tells the truth about is his feelings towards both Chris Nolans's acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, and how he thinks Ben Affleck will do when he takes over the role for directer Zack Snyder.

“Chris Nolan is great, but I’ve never seen any of the Batman movies all the way through. I know they’re good. I just have zero interest in those kinds of movies. I mean, people are asking me, ‘Is Ben Affleck going to be any good?’ And my attitude is, First of all, why would you ask me? Second, he’s probably going to be very good, and third, frankly, it’s all set up now so that you’re weirdly kind of safe. Once you get in those suits, they really know what to do with you. It was hard then; it ain’t that hard now.”

Doesn't sound like Keaton would be up for that live action The Dark Knight Returns movie so many fans are clamouring to see him in! What do you think of his comments? More at the link below.
