RESULTS: What Do You Think Of Bane's Voice In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES?

Better late than never, right? Couple of weeks ago I asked you what are your thoughts on Bane's voice in the Christopher Nolan-directed film The Dark Knight Rises, and now here are the results. Check it out...

Feature Opinion

Last month, we got a brand new theatrical trailer for the Christopher Nolan-directed film The Dark Knight Rises, a third chapter in his Batman franchise. The trailer featured a lot of new footage, but for those who haven't seen the prologue, we finally had a chance to hear Tom Hardy as Bane. The reactions to Bane's voice in the prologue attached to IMAX screens of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol were, well, very negative. A lot of people couldn't understand what he was saying. And it seems that Nolan won't be altering his voice in post-production. But, there is still seven months until the release of the film, so anything is possible.

Personally, I really don't have a problem with his voice. I actually like it. Maybe a couple of tweaks here and there in post-production would be a good idea though. And now with over 6400 votes, here are the results:

Plus, here are the results of the trailer poll:

Starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit theatres on July 20, 2012!

In the end it won't matter what the fanboys think. It'll matter what the general public thinks which will in turn give the movie staying power.

Bane's voice is sick. It's a shame he's more like the new Vader than Hayden Christiansen.

When this is done, it will be a trilogy of great main villains.

His line in the trailer is fantastic. If I can understand what he says all throughout, I'll be happy. That's the bottom line.

@yossarian lol Well, you can scratch me off the anything-goes list. If I thought hye sounded like shit I'd say so. Inner fanboy doesn't control me. Now, if he had the cliche voice everyone was expecting; gravely, monster-like or WWE Wrestling voice, then i'd be disappointed.

I love it. I think it perfectly executes what Nolan wanted, and that is it's scary, intimidating, you know something is extremely wrong with him, and in the midst of all this, he sounds very educated/calculating. TDKR will own 2012. I support you all the way Nolan. Always have, always will. Never mind these doubters/Whedonites.

Must've missed when this poll came out.
I think his voice is pretty awesome. It wasn't what I was expecting; however I don't find it disappointing. It does indeed resonate a certain quality that makes Bane likeable and just a cool character (Imo). I'll admit he was just a bit hard to understand but as an article I read hypothesized: that could be something Nolan is going for. Either way, I don't believe we can pass the judgement until we see the movie in it's entirety.
I know it won't be a let down.

Give me a break with the Nolanites/Whedonites. 4 years from now, who's gonna care?

"I liked Spider-man 2, but I think Batman Begins was better."
"I liked The Dark Knight, but I think Iron Man was better."

Can't we enjoy both movies without hating the other?

I think the voice is cool, and as Neo said, its different but in a good way. And also GDSM just because people like Nolan and his films doesn't mean they are just 'Nolanites.' They just have a different opinion than you. That doesn't mean they are wrong. No point in being an asshole about it.

Come on, guys. I understood what Bane said perfectly in the trailer. "After Angela's ashes... I'll read Catcher in the Rye." [frick]ing epic.

I think Hardy was miscast. I think he's a great actor, but the character is hispanic. You don't go from hearing his voice in every incarnation since The Animated Series... to Tom Hardy's Darth Vader-esque rendition, and not feel like something is off.

It's like when someone mispronounces a character's name when everyone else in the movie or show pronounces it a certain way. Ra's al Ghul rings a bell.

STILL, I have no doubt Hardy will give a solid performance.

I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with Bane's voice. It sounds exactly like what a guy with a metal contraption over his mouth should sound like. I could understand everything he was saying perfectly fine, even in the bootleg prologue. I mean, it's not as hard to understand as this:

I don't like Bane's voice. And for that matter, I don't like Batman's voice either. All gravily. I prefer that he just talks normal, to be honest. That said, I still dig Batman and can't wait for Dark Night Rises. As well as The Avengers, The Amazing Spiderman, The Man Of Steel. Can't wait. But honestly, I think Batman's voice is stupid.

@Tainted

I agree with you there, it kind of weird-ed me out hearing Neeson's pronunciation of Ra's Al Ghul, and same with what you said about Bane.

I, personally, could understand him [Bane] fine. Of course, I did have to adjust my ears a bit, which is going to be interesting when we're in the middle of high-paced action
