The Batman - Part II: A New Photo Of Star Sebastian Stan Has Fans Convinced That He Will Play Victor Zsasz

Another photo of The Batman - Part II star Sebastian Stan with a full buzz cut has convinced a lot of fans that he will indeed play twisted serial killer Victor Zsasz...

Earlier this year, The Batman - Part II director Matt Reeves officially announced the main cast for his long-awaited sequel on social media.

The filmmaker confirmed that Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb/The Penguin), Jayme Lawson (Bella Réal) and Gil Perez-Abraham (Officer Martinez) will reprise their roles, alongside new cast members Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry.

Reeves did not reveal the characters Gotham City's new additions will play, but we had been led to believe that Stan has been cast as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Johansson as his wife, Gilda, and Dance as his father, Christopher.

Rumors soon circulated that this may not be the case, however, as The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider said he'd heard that Stan is playing a different villain entirely, while Dance has been cast as the father of Johansson's character. More recently, Sneider followed up by claiming that Stan will actually play twisted serial killer Victor Zsasz, and Brian Tyree Henry will play Harvey Dent.

Now, another photo of Stan with his head shaved has convinced a lot of fans that he has indeed been cast as Zsasz. Others feel that this really doesn't prove anything, since he could also have had a buzz cut before his Two-Face prosthetics were applied.

Stan had the following to say about his "complex" character in a recent interview.

"No matter the subject or the character, whether it’s a film with Christian Mungiu or Matt Reeves, you always have to get to the heart of the truth. That means understanding what makes a person the way they are. What shapes their way of thinking? What is the world, the environment in which they grew up? That also includes their family background, their socio-economic level, as well as the city, the place and the time period in which they find themselves. You have to treat all of that with the same importance."

"And regardless of whether it’s a real person or a fictional character, you always have to do your research. So that’s what I do. And then, at Marvel as well as DC, all these characters are actually quite complex. I also think—and sometimes people don’t realise it right away—that there’s something mythological about comics. In any case, there’s always a reason, whether the character is a good guy or a bad guy, that explains why they ended up where they are. And in my opinion, finding that reason is what has the strongest impact on the interpretation."

A recent video showed Jeffrey Wright and Brian Tyree Henry's stand-ins on a bridge surrounded by GCPD vehicles and ambulances (we had heard that Henry, not Sebastian Stan, had been cast as Harvey Dent/Two-Face), which would seem to indicate that the Eternals star's character is working with Jim Gordon (he could also be playing Harvey Bullock, of course).

Rumors are circulating that Scarlett Johansson is set to portray a "serial killer obsessed with plants, who uses toxins to carry out her crimes" (surely Poison Ivy). Her main target is said to be Charles Dance's character, "the leader of a secret organization made up of the most powerful figures in the city" (the Court of Owls, no doubt).

If Johansson is playing a version of Pamela Isley, it may lend credence to another recent rumor that DC Studios is developing a live-action Poison Ivy series set in the same universe as The Batman movies and HBO's The Penguin.

After several previous delays, The Batman - Part II was scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027, but was recently pushed back to February 18, 2028.

Zsasz would be an interesting foil post Riddler in that Batman would contend with a killer who kills anyone and not just specifically curated targets.

He is chilling in this story Batman: Shadow Of The Bat from 1992

Wouldn’t it also be easier for the two-face makeup process if he was bald?

Would’ve rather seen Zzazz in Penguin S2 or a GCPD show. He’s a cool character/villain but not much of a threat to Batman. At least not for a 2-3 hr film…

rewatched The Batman yesterday... man i really like the movie and dont get all the hate for it. is it perfect; no. is it awful like some say, absolutely not. for me, its easily the 2nd best Batman movie in live action and i think its much closer in caliber to Nolan's TDK than others give it credit for.

Rant over... i can't wait to see this movie.

@MotherGooseUPus

Agreed. My biggest problem with it is the underlying mystery isn't all that compelling. But I love the performances, the setting, and the mood of the whole picture. It's also one of the best looking CBMs in recent memory - Fraser knocked it out of the [frick]ing park.

@regmovieguy - it really is a beautiful movie and some of the imagery is just gorgeous. i get the mystery isnt the most compelling but for me it was enough. i wish the whole Wayne family background was different; Thomas being corrupt and Martha being crazy didnt sit well with me, but like i said its not perfect. The performances are Top notch and i expect nothing less in the new movie with even more A-list talent coming in to this world.

Side note; would f*cking LOVE it if Stan turns out to be Freeze, which no one has really talked about except for a few people on here.... and deep down i still wish ScarJo was playing Phantasm but id be happy with Ivy as well.

@MotherGooseUPus -

agreed. i love it but i just have 3 gripes i hope they can correct with this new one:

- we never see why Gordon would consistently put his career & credibility in on the line for Batman. we just have to assume he would because he's Gordon.

- Paul Dano goes way too far over the top playing up The Riddler's insanity. hard to believe a guy disturbed in that way would be calculating enough to accomplish his master plan.

- i don't want to see my world-class martial artist superhero take a punch in the first scene or a double-barrel to the chest lol
McMurdo
McMurdo - 8/10/2026, 8:00 PM
@MotherGooseUPus - it ain't BB or TDK but it's solid. My main gripe with it is the clues are hilariously bad and Batman just isn't written to be a great enough detective to be allowed in crime scenes. When every photo of Annika and co at the Iceberg Lounge are taken from the exact same angle, Batman picks up on that immediately u and ends the movie right there. The writing did the character a disservice in this regard. Don't get me started on the carpet laying uncle of the cop bit.
MotherGooseUPus
MotherGooseUPus - 8/11/2026, 7:25 AM
@McMurdo - i get what you are saying. i won't argue. i thought he was portrayed as a better detective than any of the Nolan films or any Batman films before it to be honest as most of the previous films didnt really show him playing detective; but thats just my opinion.

Not sure is him being bald is that compelling of evidence he is Victor Zsaz. I am going to go out on a limb and say he is a Talon (Alton Carver).

@Forthas - I was thinking the exact same thing, after the recent reddit scene description. A Talon. And maybe Bruce's brother.
Forthas
Forthas - 8/10/2026, 6:30 PM
@ObserverIO - I am not sure if a Robin would be introduced to THIS Batman, but if they did i could see a story in which Batman saves Robin from ultimately becoming a Talon, which is why Robin becomes a crime fighter. Of course, it fits in well with the whole Court of Owls angle.

TheVisionary25 - 8/10/2026, 1:24 PM
I definitely think and feel that Stan is playing Zsasz which might seem like a waste when you first hear but has potential to be an effective villain…

Given the rumors about the Court of Owls being in this , I could see him being their enforcer rather then Talons given it would be a better fit tonally for this universe as he targets the Batman and other enemies to forward the organizations (which is led by Charles Dance) agenda.

Anyway we’ll see but while I do think someone like a Harvey Dent is a more apt character for Stan’s talents , him possibly being Victor Zsasz instead is intriguing and makes me want to see his performance just so I can understand what Reeves might have seen in him for his take on the character!!.

He’s two face. He shaved his head to wear a two part wig. Reeves like to do everything in camera so he’ll be covered in prosthetics like they did with the joker.

CristianE - 8/10/2026, 1:48 PM
While easier to do make up on a bald Sebastian Stan, it's also true that bringing back Two Face so soon after Nolan's may be strange. Poison Ivy and Szasz can make sense.
ThouBear8
ThouBear8 - 8/10/2026, 7:09 PM
@CristianE - to be fair, by the time this comes out, it will have been 20 years since The Dark Knight came out.

Whereas it'll be 8 years after Zsasz appeared in a fairly prominent role in Birds of Prey (not that the movie had nearly the cultural imprint that TDK had).

I mean, TDK was released almost 20 years ago. 🤷‍♂️
Granted, TDK is one of the greatest films of all time so it stays fresh in people’s minds.

Sebastian Stan said he plays "many roles," and perhaps his shaved head makes the makeup process easier.

Perhaps he uses multiple identities and appearances to survive in a city where his enemy is "always vigilant." This paranoia keeps Stan's character constantly on his guard.

Tired of hiding, he uses these identities to approach vigilantes and assassinate them, but... Is the Court of Owls real, or is it just paranoia?
