Independent.ie is reporting that Irish actor Barry Keoghan was arrested this past Sunday by the Gardaí in Dublin for public intoxication. However, it seems as though the matter has been thoroughly resolved and Keoghan was released shortly after his arrest without any formal charges and a fixed charge notice.
The Gardaí were initially called after receiving reports of a man (Keoghan) on a balcony in an intoxicated state. He was notably not considered a threat, but was still arrested due to his heavily inebriated state and brought to the garda station, where he presumably sobered up and was sent on his way shortly after.
In an official statement to Metro, they said, "Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s for a public order incident that occurred in Clongriffin, at approximately 6:45am, Sunday 10th April 2022. He was later released without charge and issued with an FCN (fixed charge notice)."
The 29-year-old Keoghan, one of Hollywood's brightest rising stars, recently appeared as the Joker in Warner Bros.' The Batman, which is currently the highest-grossing film of the year with a global haul of nearly $740 million and counting. He previously played Druig in Marvel Studios' Eternals, had a pivotal role in David Lowery's The Green Knight, and received widespread critical acclaim for his leading parts in Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Nick Rowland's Calm with Horses.
