Believe it or not, it was thirty two months ago that Warner Bros. announced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the San Diego Comic-Con, and we're now just days away from the movie being released. That also means that the latest tracking data is in, and Deadline reports that the Zack Snyder helmed release is currently taking aim at a global opening of $350 million.

That should give it the second best pre-summer and Easter debut of all time behind only Furious 7's $397.7 million last year. These numbers may put it behind the likes Avengers: Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3, but depending on how those reviews turn out, we could see a significant rise over the weekend (see: Jurassic World). Here are some more details courtesy of the trade:

Overseas the Dark Knight and the Son Jor-El are eyeing $200M in 61 territories, including a touchdown in China, a market that typically comes toward the end of most tentpoles’ international runs. Rival distributors believe in their bones that BvS is headed toward a $150M FSS at 4,200 theaters — the widest pre-summer opening ever beating the 4,137 venues that The Hunger Games debuted in during the spring of 2012 ($152.5M opening). However, even if the Zack Snyder-directed film for some reason gets dinged by critics, and turns up an opening of $110M, it’s not the end of the world. Could it do $200M stateside? Maybe, because as we know it’s always a hard one for B.O. analysts to predict when tracking is jumping off the page. However that $150M figure seems fair.

They go on to add that things are also looking good for Batman v Superman in China as well, a territory which will no doubt play a big role in getting the movie past that all important $1 billion mark. Throw in those overwhelmingly positive reactions from last night (more should follow this evening) and this one definitely has all the makings of a hit so far. What do you guys think?

@Brainiac13 - I'd say around $185m, I'd hope for $200+... I mean Tupac might be a senator, but he might also be the dark skinned boyfriend in a Tyler Perry movie kicking Jill Scott down a flight of stairs if he were alive today.

Probably closer to $380mil I think, if the foreign market stays at $200mil and I think the domestic will edge closer to the $180mil range.

Plus, China will be a huge addition to this.
