Hans Zimmer On Scoring SUPERMAN VS BATMAN.........

At the UK premiere of Rush, composer Hans Zimmer was asked about scoring Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, Superman vs Batman and what he thought about Ben Affleck playing Batman.

Hans Zimmer on scoring Zack Snyder's Superman vs Batman: This is really complicated for me. We all went, 'Okay, we're done with Batman' and now it's sort of getting smuggled back in. I have to have a think about that one. I might give you a new Batman if I do it.

Hans Zimmer on Ben Affleck playing Batman in Superman vs Batman: I actually think it's a really good choice because #1, he's a great filmmaker, he's smart - he wouldn't have taken it if he [was] setting himself up for a fall. He's a bit older these days and that's what we need. And he's got a good chin.

Zimmer is an absolute beast!
I think that since we'll be getting a new Batman, who's hopefully a bit more tech-savvy, Zimmer ought to bring in Ramin Djawadi. I almost hear it, Zimmer's heavy drums thrumping with Ramin's guitar sounds smoothed over!

I don't want a score, I want a soundtrack.
Cough cough Rise Against for Justice League cough cough

But it's not a Batman movie! It's a MOS sequel. And I guess you're right, as good as the MOS soundtracks were, I eventually got fed up of them.

Apart from that, they were pretty loud in the movie. I hate it when soundtracks are very loud except in a couple of scenes.

I'm not saying it wasn't good. But they were a little too loud during the movie. At least for me.

I really wish he didn't come back mostly because he did his Batman score already but I'm fine with it.

Still prefer the Elfman theme. I hope his Worlds's Finest theme is like a combination of the Elfman and his MOS theme. At times it's inspiring and enlightening but at other times it's dark and depressing. The theme should have points that show Superman and show Batman and show them together.

nach1wan - 9/3/2013, 6:43 AM
it would have been, if it didnt try so hard to be the best thing ever, so loud and self-important... like it was suffering from a god complex

oh, i just described the film too

thats the thing, had it been consistent with that tone of self importance, i would had believed it

i mean, its not like superman himself believed all the horseshit surrounding him

I hope he brings back or at least alludes to the classic Batman theme from Batman and B:TAS in his score. Whatever direction he goes its going to be epic, this man hasnt made one score I didn't love

Hmmmmm.......interesting choice of words from Hans Zimmer............

MOS soundtrack was epic. hoping to hear more of the main theme in the next movie.
But man this is getting weird - a rebooted batman in a similar universe with some of the same people behind the scenes. TDKR was only released moments ago. It makes the Spidey remake seem like it was remaking an ancient classic

i honestly have no idea with what name they'll come up with. i wont hold my breath

If anything (for what bits worth), Marco Beltrami should score the next Batman solo reboot.

I hate when they have a Movie soundtrack with "music inspired by " What the [frick] does that mean? Just admit you want to whore your music on top of the movies coat-tails and don't give us this inspired by bullshit. Or even better how about music that was ACTUALLY IN THE [frick]ING FILM!

Any chance to insult Bale, ey godzilla fart?

And screw all old themes. This is a new Bats with a new Supes and he should get a new theme like Supes did.

Awesome.

This way we get a Nolan directed / Zimmer scored Batman isolated universe.

followed by a Nolan produced / Zimmer scored Superman & Batman shared universe.

The OCD in me would go nuts if we had a MOS movie that felt closer to TDK than the next Batman.

Again Zimmer? Bring back Elfman!!!
feedonatreefrog
feedonatreefrog - 9/3/2013, 7:20 AM
Oh. And here's hoping we get a new Batman theme like he said. The OCD in me would go nuts if they brought back the TDKtrilogy theme.

Also, I actually wouldn't be opposed if he used reworked themes from Williams' and Elfman's, but only if he uses both. Again, the OCD.

Don't even remember his Man of Steel soundtrack. Rather we got some fresh meat doing the sequel.

Rise Against would be great for JL and maybe Superman Batman, hated Zimmers score in the context of the movie. All I heard throughout the movie was the track from the Nokia trailer and I didn't like that one even before the movie came out. Listen to it separately from the movie and you'll like it more and it won't sound repetitive.

Man of Steel OST is pretty awesome and Hans Zimmer is one of the best but they really need to move on from TDK.

If you thought MOS was dissappinting, shove it up your asshole and quit reading articles about the sequel just to complain about it. The movie has been out too long for you to magically convince everyone to have the same misguided rage that you have.

The same can be said about IM3 -_- However I don't want Zimmer to score Batman again. Get someone else for the Bats vs Supes movie.

All the musicians mentioned above are great, but I TRULY believe they need to give Christopher Drake a shot at it. Give him a full on symphony orchestra at his disposal and he will not disappoint. His music on DC's animated movies fit the mood and are themed perfectly! Listen to his work on Wonder Woman, Batman: Under the Red Hood, and (one of my faves) the theme to All-Star Superman. Listen to that, come back, and tell me what you think. :D

Christopher Drake FTW!

I like the score of the dark knight films, but Man of Steel score not so much, it was dull to me, I like the John Williams score better, Honestly I prefer someone else to score this movie, becuase Hans Zimmer cannot score all dc films, I want something different.

That's just it...Hans Zimmer does great music, the problem is his music isn't very "themed". John Williams gets what themed music is. When you hear the Imperial March, you think of Darth Vader. When you hear the Raiders March, you think of Indiana Jones. He used 2-3 notes to make you instantly think of a shark for crying out loud! LOL. Zimmer's music can be fun and exciting...but it doesn't tell me a story, and that's what the music SHOULD do.

"well at least the music will be great."

@ banesmash

you reported me for that comment.

look man of steel was good but not great,i'm not sure about affleck casting as batman & none of of us have even seen the movie yet.

so me saying at least the music will be great isn't a bad thing is it.
