BIRDS OF PREY Star Margot Robbie Confirms The Movie's R-Rating And Production Start Date
We had heard reports that Warner Bros.' upcoming Birds of Prey movie was set to begin shooting early next year, and star Margot Robbie has now confirmed as much in a new interview. More past the jump...
It looks like Birds of Prey will indeed be Warner Bros.' first R-rated DC movie.
Margot Robbie recently revealed that she originally pitched the idea of an "R-rated girl gang film" to the studio, and while speaking to Flickering Myth about her new movie Terminal, the Academy Award-nominated actress confirmed that the Suicide Squad spinoff would indeed carry the more adult-oriented certificate.
Robbie also promised that BOP would be very "different" to the other planned movies featuring Harley Quinn, and would be made with a “much smaller budget.”
In addition, Robbie confirmed that the Cathy Yan-directed project is gearing up for a January 2019 shoot date, which was first reported by the guys over at Omega Underground.
And what of those other Harley Quinn-related projects that are supposedly in the works? While it sounds like they are still in development, Robbie has previously claimed that she has very little to do with them and has been focusing on working towards Birds of Prey with screenwriter Christina Hodson.
So, what do you guys think about the prospect of an R-rated Birds of Prey movie? Sound off in the usual place.
