BLACK ADAM Social Media Reactions Praise Dwayne Johnson's Anti-Hero But Criticise The Plot And Villain

The first social media reactions for Black Adam are in, and while critics are praising Dwayne Johnson, the JSA, and action, it sounds like the movie doesn't boast the strongest of stories. Check them out!

The first screenings for Black Adam took place yesterday evening, and that means we have social media reactions. As always, it's best to take these with a pinch of salt until full reviews are published, but the response is definitely a little more mixed than we're used to from these hot takes.

For the most part, those who have watched the movie clearly appreciate what Dwayne Johnson brings to the table as the anti-hero, while it sounds like those JSA heroes are a worthy addition to the DCEU.

In terms of action and spectacle, Black Adam definitely doesn't disappoint if what we read here is any indication, news we're sure will be welcomed by many of you. However, where the DC Comics adaptation seemingly stumbles is with its plot. That's not receiving the same level of praise, while the movie's big bad looks to be similarly underwhelming.

There are comparisons to the SnyderVerse and high praise for what sounds like a memorable mid-credits scene, but Black Adam may not be the game-changer for the DCEU we expected.

Overall, it should be a fun ride, but we're definitely intrigued to see how this one fares on Rotten Tomatoes...

Good to hear The rock's performance isn't getting the hate i was expecting. Otherwise the movie sounds to be what i expected. will probably still be watching.

Glad Henry's back, but not sure i like the sound of a "Snyder-esque" tone, and i liked his previous entries.

@UniqNo - Nobody's gonna say a bad word about The Rock. Not with their names attached. They're too scared.

@UniqNo - I mean if any character makes sense to have that kind of tone Black Adam would make sense. He is in a lot of ways the anti-Superman. I know I know he’s the anti Shazam but you know what I mean

@Ha1frican - Oh I hear you, but just hearing his name around those properties makes me feel uneasy..

Don't get me wrong though I appreciate Snyder. 2/3's of MoS was amazing, and regardless of the story he's telling his visuals are always on point but he never treated the character as I felt they should be portrayed on film, aside from some part of Batman in BvS. He did great with Watchmen though.

Is this considered a SPOILER?

it’s been talked about so much now

@UniqNo - Talked but not confirmed, so the answer is yes. If you have to ask if something is a spoiler a good rule of thumb is to not post it.

@UniqNo - Didn't take long hahaha

Looks like MoS S and not the BVS but with nicer colouring... ah that's nice. I hope the rumours aren't true about the musical que though. I like the Williams score and all but I loved what Zimmer brought to MoS.

@Urubrodi - You sure about that? i'm genuinley asking, as there's an article from a day or back with the title on the main page saying

"Welcome home" - Dwayne Johnson on Henry Cavill returning to the DCEU!

That didn't have spoiler tags so i assumed it's common knowledge now, but hey, i'm not an editor or admin on the website.

@UnderBelly - Yeah the rumours are true. Just saw it on youtube! nice scene. Very short though. if anything i feel this will get people more interested in the movie even though it's at the end.
