BLACK ADAM Star Dwayne Johnson Debunks At Least One Rumor About His DC Status

Dwayne Johnson has been coming under fire a lot recently as rumours about his role in Henry Cavill's Superman return and the DCU's future continue to swirl, but the actor has now debunked at least one...

Dwayne Johnson is one of the most beloved actors working in Hollywood today, hence why his name is often suggested when it comes to a future Presidential run in the United States!

It's rare for the actor to receive any sort of negative press, but Black Adam's release has not been kind to him. While there was a little spin at the beginning, painting it as the biggest opening of The Rock's career, the tide soon turned and it was no longer possible to overlook the movie's poor critical and commercial performance.

Since then, Johnson has become uncharacteristically defensive about Black Adam on social media, with accusations swirling that he and/or his team leaked financial data to Deadline to try and make the movie look like a hit.

The actor had huge plans for this franchise, with sequels, spin-offs, and more. Unfortunately, he's no longer going to have a say in how the DCEU DCU is run, as that's now down to DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran. Could that be why he's supposedly unfollowed the social media accounts for Black Adam, DC Comics, and Warner Bros. Discovery on Instagram?

Well, despite rumours swirling online that The Rock had snubbed his former employers on the site, he quickly took to Twitter to debunk those claims, putting the story to bed.

Johnson would later chime in to say that this is an "insanely toxic time and culture," likely referencing the way he and Black Adam are coming under fire as the DCEU transitions to the DCU.

Considering #FireJamesGunn has been trending, with most of those people being Snyderverse and Black Adam fans who credit The Rock with "saving" Henry Cavill's Superman, we're not sure which side of that toxicity he's referring to here.

Off topic, but I vote Miles Burris for the new Superman.

Dude used to play for the Raiders, but he had to retire early, so now he acts. I think Gunn should go with a no-name, under the radar guy and Burris would be my choice.

@KWilly - He looks the part, but I'd be concerned about his acting experience. Gunn is obviously going to make Superman a focal point (as he should) in the New DCU. I think we need a strong actor for that. Cavill looked the part, bit he was always too wooden acting for the part, don't want to have a repeat. But I haven't seen Burris act so I'm just assuming, is he any good?

It’s like the Rock is starting to realize that he’s not as popular as his ego lead him to believe he was.

@TheDoctor1225 - yea it was partnered with #bringbacksnyder yesterday. Some are arguing this shows CBM fans and theGA are in an uproar over Cavill being let go. It was trending with 4k tweets which is nothing… it’s minuscule. It’s the same minority of Snyder fans with the help of a few influencers that’s keep this crap going.

As some one who loves the snyderverse, BvS and his JL in particular, it’s definitely time for a reset. All these ppl tweet fire James Gunn are idiots. DC finally has some one who care and and understands the characters just let him do his thing. Also Black Adam was awful. Felt very cheap and I love the Rock but he’s not a good actor. The whole thing of him going out of his way to not mention Shazam and making Black Adam a hero is just dumb.

The damage this man has done to the DC brand...Snyder hurted the brand, but it wasnt his intention, he made what he though were good movies, The Rock is acting like a child, things didnt go his way, he is burning the whole place down, and he did it in a matter of weeks.

@TheHumanSpider2 - DJ waded into a pool he didn’t understand. He is used to his fans and followers being 100% positive. He had no idea how toxic Snyder fans are. DJ is a career man he will end up putting his career first and towing the line with Gunn and then these same people will turn on him.

The fact that Johnson thought he was going to swoop in and basically reshape the DCEU to revolve around him and Black Adam is ridiculous, but not surprising. I feel like this has all really backfired on him and has brought to light what an egotistical, hard to work with baffoon that he is. I think we will see fewer and fewer leading roles for him going forward.
