Warner Bros. has always maintained that they intended to get the solo Black Adam project off the ground and in front of cameras soon after Shazam! hit theatres, but a new report from GWW (formerly Omega Underground) indicates that it may not actually begin shooting until Fall of 2019.

The supposed reason for the delay shouldn't come as too much of a surprise: star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's jam-packed schedule.

The WWE Superstar-turned actor is currently filming Jungle Cruise, and after that he has Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, then Jumanji 2 and Red Notice.

Is there a chance we could see Black Adam make his big-screen debut in another movie first? There was a rumor doing the rounds that the studio was considering introducing the character as the villain of Suicide Squad 2, but we've heard conflicting reports since.

We'll keep you guys updated on the status of Black Adam, and hopefully WB will announce an official release date for the film soon.

...Aaand here we go again.

At this point I choose not to believe that any future DC project will happen until the day it actually starts shooting and I see the first set photos.

I hope this isn't another Man of Steel seqeul, Batgirl solo movie, JL sequel, the Suicide Squad member solo movies or the Nightwing film situation all over again. Hell, they can't even get the Batman solo going for years.

@Eren - In the past, movies have got canceled half way through shooting, near the end of the shooting or even in post production.

I will believe only when it actually hits the theaters.

Honestly the more of the Rocks movies I see, the more i realize he reeeeeally doesn't have the range to play Black Adam believably. He plays a certain character really really well, but I don't think Black Adam is in his wheelhouse.

@JK2point0 @arthurfleck - What about Pain & Gain? It’s pretty much the only Michael Bay movie I really like. Him playing a body builder is NOT a stretch, so I don’t mean this as an argument as to his acting range to support him as the best choice for Black Adam, just saying I really like that movie, and I think Johnson is great in that movie.

@GreedoSarducci - Right?! I was SO shocked! Johnson has a talent for comedy. Again, none of this supports him for the range needed for Black Adam, but yeah. Pain & Gain was great. Very over looked. Kinda f’ed up it’s based on a true story, but the movie was entertaining as Hell.

@Santanaonfire - oh there are quite a few movies I enjoy him in. But in all those movies they are basically either playing up his natural charisma or he is playing a silly role. He plays a good action hero or silly character, but I cant even phantom him giving a nuanced and layered performance as a villain. Every time I imagine him playing Black Adam seriously, it just feels goofy and wrong.
